Science Engineer information

What engineers make $200,000 a year?

Senior engineers in fields such as software, petroleum, aerospace, and electrical engineering can earn $200,000 or more annually, especially with extensive experience, advanced skills, and often in leadership or specialized roles. High-paying engineering positions typically require advanced degrees, certifications, and a strong track record of project management or technical expertise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Science Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Science Engineer, you need a strong background in engineering principles, scientific analysis, and problem-solving, typically supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with technical tools such as CAD software, simulation programs, and data analysis platforms, as well as certifications like Professional Engineer (PE), are often required. Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills help distinguish top performers in this field. These competencies ensure innovative solutions, effective project execution, and collaboration across interdisciplinary teams.

What do science engineers do?

Science engineers apply principles from science and engineering to develop new technologies, improve processes, and solve technical problems. They often work in research and development environments, utilizing tools like laboratory equipment and computer modeling, and may require knowledge of specific scientific disciplines and engineering standards.

What engineers make $500,000 a year?

Highly experienced engineers in specialized fields such as petroleum engineering, aerospace engineering, or software engineering working in senior or executive roles can earn $500,000 or more annually. These positions often require advanced skills, extensive experience, and sometimes leadership responsibilities or working in high-paying industries like oil and gas, aerospace, or technology firms.

What jobs can you do with engineering science?

Engineering science graduates can pursue careers in research and development, systems engineering, quality assurance, and technical consulting. They often work in industries such as aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing, utilizing skills in problem-solving, data analysis, and technical design. Certifications and proficiency with tools like CAD software or laboratory equipment can enhance job prospects.

What are science engineers?

Science engineers are professionals who apply scientific principles and methods to solve technical problems and develop new technologies. They often work at the intersection of research and application, using their expertise in fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, or materials science to design innovative products, improve existing processes, and conduct experiments. Science engineers collaborate with researchers, engineers, and other specialists to translate scientific discoveries into practical solutions for industries like healthcare, energy, manufacturing, and environmental management.

What is the difference between Science Engineer vs Mechanical Engineer?

AspectScience EngineerMechanical Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's or higher in science or engineering fields, certifications varyBachelor's or higher in mechanical engineering, PE license optional
Work EnvironmentResearch labs, development centers, industrial settingsManufacturing plants, design offices, testing facilities
Employer & Industry UsageResearch institutions, tech companies, government agenciesManufacturing firms, automotive, aerospace, energy sectors
Common Search & ComparisonYesYes

Science Engineers focus on applying scientific principles to develop new technologies and conduct research, often working in labs or research centers. Mechanical Engineers design, analyze, and manufacture mechanical systems, working primarily in industrial and manufacturing environments. While both roles require engineering knowledge, Science Engineers emphasize scientific research, whereas Mechanical Engineers focus on practical system design and production.

What are some common challenges Science Engineers face when working on interdisciplinary teams?

Science Engineers often collaborate with professionals from diverse backgrounds, such as chemists, physicists, and computer scientists. One common challenge is bridging communication gaps due to different terminologies and approaches used in each discipline. Successfully navigating these differences requires strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn from team members. Adapting to varying project management styles and aligning on shared goals are also key aspects of effective interdisciplinary teamwork.

Job description

Missionย

4MINDS is an enterprise AI fine-tuning platform that transforms how organizations build andย operateย private, domain-specific AI. Unlike static systems, 4MINDS' AI platform learns continuously from live data in real time and can be deployed on-prem or your cloud provider.ย

Our patented technologies scale existing engineering teams and empower new AI teams, enabling rapid AI deployment, adaptation, and ROI. Through 4MINDS' automated data pipeline and proprietary knowledge graph, enterprises can connect all their data sources, including Microsoft, Databricks, AWS and Google, creating adaptive AI that surpasses the capabilities of conventional RAG-based systems.ย

Role Overviewย

As aย Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE),ย you'llย operateย at the intersection ofย engineering, AI, and live customer systems. You'llย work directly withย enterpriseย clients to deploy, debug, andย optimizeย 4MINDS LLM training platform.ย

This is a hands-on, field-facing engineering role.ย You'llย move between writing code, diagnosing live issues, building integrations, tuning models, and translating operational insights into core product improvements.ย

Reporting to the VP of Solutionsย Engineering, you'll make an impact for us and our customers byย solving hard, messy, high-stakesย problems where AI meets real operations.

Key Responsibilitiesย

  • Partner directly with customers,ย fromย presalesย throughย onboarding andย production, toย ensure theย 4Mindsย platform delivers new models for our clients.ย
  • Debug, tune, andย optimizeย real-time LLM development pipelines for clients.ย ย
  • Build andย maintainย lightweightย integrations,ย automations, and scriptsย connecting customer systems (TMS, CRMs, APIs) to our AI stack.ย
  • Work closely withย core engineering and product teamsย to reproduce, isolate, and resolve field issues rapidly.ย
  • Developย deploymentย playbooks and reusable frameworksย that make future rollouts faster and more reliable.ย
  • Surface insights and edge cases from customer operations to informย model tuning, UX design, and roadmap priorities.ย
  • Represent engineering in the fieldย andย communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.ย
  • Ship quickly, iterate aggressively, andย own every deployment likeย it'sย your own product.ย

Required Qualificationsย

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineer, or related technical fieldย
  • 3+ years inย technical customer interfacing implementation roleย
  • 5+ years inย software engineeringย
  • Strong experience with AI/LLM pipelines and open-source models including prompting, orchestration, or model tuning.
  • Strong proficiencyย inย Python, Node.js, or TypeScriptย ย
  • Ableย to build integrations and debug live systems.ย
  • Experience withย real-time APIs, WebRTC, or streaming systems.ย
  • Clear technical communication and ability to work directly with customer teams under time pressure.ย
  • Comfort working inย high-stakes, production environmentsย where reliability and speedย matter.ย
  • Deep ownershipย mindset:ย you care about outcomes, not job titles.ย

Preferred Qualificationsย
