Job Description:
Lead the ongoing refinement and advancement of the CA BOCES Advancing STEM curriculum, ensuring its alignment with the New York State Science Learning Standards, state assessment expectations, and emerging best practices in science education. Provide leadership and support for STEM education across the CA BOCES region. The STEM Coordinator works collaboratively with component district, administrators, and educators to develop, implement, and evaluate high-quality science curriculum, instructional practices, assessments, and professional learning opportunities.
Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate and enhance the Advancing STEM curriculum program, including instructional materials, science kits, digital resources, and supporting documentation.
  2. Design, facilitate, and evaluate professional learning opportunities for teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators focused on Advancing STEM kits, science instruction, STEM integration, assessment, and best practices.
  3. Serve as a regional resource and liaison for component districts by interpreting state initiatives, standards updates, instructional guidance, and emerging trends in education.
  4. Collaborate with district leadership teams to assess instructional needs, analyze student achievement data, and identify opportunities for program improvement and growth.
  5. Research, evaluate, and recommend instructional materials, technologies, programs, and services that support high-quality education.
  6. Assist in the planning and implementation of special projects and regional initiatives related to science and STEM education.
  7. Support the development, monitoring, and evaluation of departmental budgets, program goals, and service offerings.
  8. Assist with recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, supervision, and evaluation of instructional support staff.
  9. Collect and analyze program participation, implementation, and outcome data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
  10. Maintain expertise in current research, instructional practices, educational technologies, and state and national developments in science and education.
  11. Represent CA BOCES at regional, state, and professional meetings, conferences, and collaborative initiatives.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager for Learning Resources.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and per BASSA Compensation Plan.
Job Qualifications:
  1. Permanent/Professional NYS teacher certification.
  2. Certification as School Building Leader (SBL), School District Leader (SDL), School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS), or School District Administrator (SDA) - OR willingness to obtain.
  3. Three (3) to five (5) years teaching experience (STEM area background preferred).

Evaluation: Annually, by the Program Manager
Terms of Employment: 12-month position
