JOB TITLE:ย  Science Teacher
LOCATION:ย  Fort Logan Northgate
WORK YEAR:ย 2026-2027
WORK STATUS:ย  Licensed, Full-Time Exempt
REPORTS TO:ย  School Principal



Fort Logan Northgate is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Science team for the upcoming school year.ย The applicant must be collaborative, aware of current productive pedagogical practices and eager to impact young people.ย  The candidate chosen will be focused on supporting students in a differentiated classroom setting.ย  Candidates must believe that all students can learn, have excellent classroom management skills and a strong understanding of how data can help inform intentional planning.ย 
QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL TEACHING POSITIONS

  1. Must hold a Colorado Alternative, Provisional or Professional Teaching License with appropriate endorsement.
  2. Bachelor's degree or higher required from an accredited university or college.
  3. Completed a state approved Teacher Preparation Program or participation in an Alternative Teacher License program.
  4. Passed PRAXIS exam in Colorado or in a CDE approved state.

KEY RESULT AREAS AND ATTENDANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Planning

  • Plan instruction consistent with the district-approved curriculum for assigned subject area(s)/grade level(s)
  • Use formal and informal methods to assess the abilities and needs of students.
  • Plan effective use of class time.

Instructional Interaction (Teaching)

  • Apply principles of teaching/learning to enhance student achievement.
  • Utilize teaching methods that are appropriate for the objectives and learners.
  • Modify instruction to meet student needs.
  • Communicate effectively with learners.
  • Provide for and maintain student involvement during instruction

Evaluation of Instruction

  • Use the evaluation of student outcomes to measure the effectiveness of instruction.
  • Communicate effectively student progress to student and parent/guardian

Instructional Management

  • Attend to tasks in a manner that maximizes instruction.
  • Maintain necessary student records.
  • Assist in planning for appropriate use of volunteers/aides as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSย 

May include, standing and walking for extended periods; bend, stoop, and lift materials; reach for supplies on high shelves; use manual dexterity for tasks like writing and using technology; communicate clearly and effectively with students; climb stairs in multi-level buildings.

CLEARANCE:
Must clear online background check and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation.ย 
SALARY:
Placement on Licensed Teacher salary schedule based upon previous teaching experience andย highest degree andย college credits earned afterย student teaching was completed. Current Board approved Licensed Teacher Salary Schedule and Salary Placement Policy are available for review on our district website atย www.ssd2.org.ย ย 



The annual salary for this position will be determined by number of hours scheduled to work each day and number of days scheduled to work each year.ย  The computed annual salary will be spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the 1st working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday.

Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per weekย are eligible toย obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision,ย life and disabilityย insurance and supplemental benefits.ย ย
