POSITION NUMBER: 2608-00318 -GIS
POSITION LOCATION: Atlanta, GA, USA
TRAVEL: As required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position
ASRT is seeking a senior level Data Analytics, GIS, Visualization and Communications Lead to provide integrated analytical, epidemiologic, geospatial, data management, visualization, and scientific communication support to The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, Program Development and Services Branch. The position serves as the primary technical resource for the engagement and is expected to independently manage complex analytical assignments, translate findings into decision ready products, and coordinate directly with multidisciplinary public health teams.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary technical resource for data analytics, GIS, visualization, scientific communication, and related analytical support.
- Plan and execute quantitative, qualitative, geospatial, and market research analyses using complex secondary public health datasets.
- Integrate and analyze data from sources such as CDC PLACES, BRFSS, CDC WONDER, Census and American Community Survey data, market-research datasets, and other approved Federal or commercial sources.
- Identify geographic patterns, disparities, population characteristics, and factors associated with cardiovascular disease and related health outcomes.
- Apply advanced analytical methods including multivariate analysis, principal component analysis, regression diagnostics, predictive modeling, segmentation, complex-survey analysis, and small-area geographic analysis.
- Assess data quality, missing data, outliers, source compatibility, and methodological limitations and document analytical assumptions and constraints.
- Develop dashboards, maps, statistical tables, figures, reports, presentations, infographics, and other data visualization products using ArcGIS, Tableau, Power BI, SAS, SUDAAN, R, Python, SQL, and CDC-approved platforms.
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear, accurate products suitable for scientific, programmatic, policy, and nontechnical audiences.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries, codebooks, annotated statistical programs, data-analysis plans, data management documentation, methodological summaries, and version-controlled files.
- Maintain reproducible analytical workflows that allow authorized CDC personnel to understand, verify, update, and transfer analyses.
- Conduct literature reviews and synthesize scientific evidence related to cardiovascular disease, chronic disease, public health interventions, and associated risk factors.
- Support development of abstracts, manuscripts, scientific reports, technical summaries, presentations, and other dissemination products.
- Apply plain language, health literacy, and Section 508 accessibility practices to communication and visualization products.
- Coordinate with epidemiologists, statisticians, health scientists, evaluators, communications specialists, program staff, and other subject-matter experts.
- Manage recurring and ad hoc analytical requests, including intake, prioritization, tracking, status reporting, and completion of time-sensitive assignments.
- Support technical and program meetings through preparation of analytical materials, agendas, documentation of decisions, and tracking of action items.
- Conduct technical and quality-control review of analytical products for accuracy, reproducibility, completeness, consistency, and accessibility before submission.
- Maintained Government approved project files, analytical documentation, and status information to support continuity and knowledge transfer.
- Coordinate with the Program Manager on workload, schedules, dependencies, risks, and issues requiring management attention.
- Support structured knowledge transfer to the designated backup analyst to maintain uninterrupted service during planned or unplanned absences.
- Comply with applicable CDC and HHS requirements for information security, privacy, records management, scientific integrity, nondisclosure, and accessibility.
- Perform work independently with minimal Government direction while maintaining responsive communication and adherence to established deadlines and quality standards.
