Job Description

The Senior Project Manager – Building Science is a senior‑level technical and project delivery role focused on building restoration and building envelope consulting projects in Toronto.

  • Conduct on-site investigations of building systems including cladding, roofing, underground parking structures, balconies, and related building envelope components
  • Perform detailed condition assessments and prepare clear technical reports documenting findings, causes of deterioration, and recommended remedial strategies
  • Develop order-of-magnitude and preliminary repair cost estimates for capital planning and client decision-making
  • Prepare specifications, drawings, and tender packages for restoration projects
  • Manage the full tendering process, including addenda, clarifications, bid review, and preparation of recommendation letters for award
  • Provide construction administration services including site reviews, progress meetings, and review of contractor submissions (RFIs, shop drawings, change requests)
  • Monitor construction progress, schedule, quality, and contract compliance, including evaluation of changes and delays
  • Manage client relationships and support ongoing project communication throughout all phases
  • Lead or support proposal preparation and contribute to business development activities
  • Participate in internal project coordination and team meetings
  • Review, mentor, and train junior staff, including delegating technical tasks, providing guidance on field work and report preparation, and supporting their professional development
  • Ensure quality control and consistency of deliverables prepared by junior team members
Qualifications
  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with focus on Building Systems, Building Science, Architectural Science, or a related discipline
  • Over 7 years of experience in building restoration, building envelope consulting, or related consulting or construction environment
  • P.Eng. designation is required and in good standing with PEO
  • Strong technical expertise in building envelope systems including roofing, waterproofing, concrete restoration, and cladding systems
  • Proven experience in condition assessments, specification writing, tendering, and construction administration
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience mentoring, reviewing, and delegating work to junior engineers or technologists
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills with ability to produce high-quality reports and client-facing documents
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with Bluebeam or similar tools is an asset
