Salary Range: $165,000 – $200,000 / year (dependent on experience, education, and skill set)

About the Role

Seeking a skilled and innovative Linux Administrator (Systems Administrator Level 2) to join a high-performing systems team supporting a hybrid cloud environment in Fort Meade, MD.

In this role, you will assist in designing systems architecture and deploying solutions across multiple networks and diverse infrastructures. You will provision, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux instances while driving infrastructure automation and process optimization across the ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Provision, configure, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux server instances across multiple isolated networks and hybrid cloud architectures.

Design, build, debug, and maintain infrastructure automation scripts and configuration management routines using Bash, Python, Puppet, and/or Ansible.

Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering and operations teams to isolate root causes and resolve complex system issues.

Support systems architecture design and continuous operational improvements.

Interface with service owners, technical leads, and teammates to communicate system status, risk mitigations, and performance metrics.

Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior administration staff.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Experience & Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution plus at least 10 years of Systems Administration experience on programs/contracts of similar scope and complexity, OR

15 years of relevant Systems Administration experience without a degree (5 additional years substituting for the degree).

Certifications: DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or equivalent).

Operating Systems: Strong, hands-on Linux system administration background, including installation, hardening, patch management, performance monitoring, and diagnostics.

Automation & Scripting: Demonstrated proficiency writing and debugging automation scripts using tools such as Bash, Python, Puppet, or Ansible.

Desired Qualifications

Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), specifically configuring and managing EC2 Auto Scaling groups.

Practical experience utilizing the AWS CLI (aws-cli) and AWS SDK for Python (boto3) to automate cloud infrastructure tasks.
