Position Overview
The School Security Guard is responsible for managing and directing traffic flow around school grounds during arrival and dismissal times to ensure the safety of students, staff, and visitors. This position involves coordinating pedestrian and vehicle traffic, enforcing school traffic policies, and working in close collaboration with school administrators, local law enforcement, and community members to maintain safe traffic conditions.
Responsibilities: Essential job functions may include, but are not limited to:
  • Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic during peak times, including student drop-off and pick-up hours.
  • Ensure smooth and safe traffic flow around the school, minimizing congestion and reducing the risk of accidents.
  • Coordinate with other traffic control personnel, school staff, and local authorities to ensure efficient traffic patterns around the school.
  • Ensure that drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists adhere to school traffic regulations and safety rules.
  • Monitor the speed of vehicles near the school, ensuring compliance with speed limits and other traffic laws.
  • Prevent unsafe behaviors such as illegal parking, jaywalking, and other violations in the school zone.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and students about traffic procedures and safety protocols.
  • Report any traffic accidents, incidents, or unsafe conditions to the school administration and local law enforcement.
  • Provide assistance and directions to visitors, staff, and parents regarding appropriate parking and traffic routes.
  • Act quickly and efficiently in case of an emergency, including vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, or other urgent situations near the school.
