About the Role:

The School Security Guard plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors within the school premises. This position involves vigilant monitoring of school grounds, entrances, and common areas to prevent unauthorized access and ensure compliance with safety protocols. The guard will respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies, coordinating with school administration and local law enforcement as necessary. By fostering a visible security presence, the role helps to deter potential threats and promote a sense of safety and well-being throughout the school community. Ultimately, the School Security Guard contributes to creating a supportive atmosphere conducive to learning and personal development.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid security guard license or certification as required by the state.
• Powe to arrest and appropriate use of force
• SB 1626 School Security Officer Training Certificate
  • (If you do not currently possess the SB 1626 certificate, training may be provided for qualified candidates.)
• Basic knowledge of emergency response procedures and first aid.
• Current TB Test Clearance
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
• Strong observational skills and physical fitness to perform patrol duties.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in school security or a related security role.
• Training in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Familiarity with local laws and regulations related to school safety.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and patrol school grounds, buildings, and parking areas to detect and prevent suspicious activities or safety hazards.
• Control access to the school by verifying identification and authorizing entry for visitors, staff, and contractors.
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including medical incidents, fire alarms, and security breaches, following established protocols.
• Collaborate with school administrators, local law enforcement, and emergency responders to manage incidents and maintain order.
• Maintain detailed logs and reports of daily activities, incidents, and security concerns to support ongoing safety efforts.

Skills:

The required skills such as vigilance, physical fitness, and knowledge of emergency procedures are essential for effectively monitoring the school environment and responding to incidents promptly. Strong observational skills enable the guard to identify potential threats or unusual behavior early, preventing escalation. Communication skills are used daily to interact respectfully and clearly with students, staff, and visitors, ensuring cooperation and compliance with security policies. Preferred skills like conflict resolution and first aid enhance the guard's ability to manage challenging situations calmly and provide immediate assistance when needed. Together, these skills ensure the guard can maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming school atmosphere.

Available Shifts:

• 9:30 am - 6:00 pm
