POSITION SUMMARY:
Lead the maintenance team in assuring good operating conditions for the process equipment, building and grounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage and provide direct supervision for the Albion maintenance personnel located at AMT, ALP and CW; this includes performance reviews, progressive discipline, scheduling, etc
  • Provide support as needed to the Balchem Salt Lake City plant
  • Manage the Albion on-line maintenance system, Micromai
  • Provide analysis on maintenance activities, especially Preventative Maintenance, to ensure good reliability as well as cost effectiveness of maintenance performed
  • Manage maintenance resources on Capital Projects, ensuring that project work is accomplished as well as day-to-day operational maintenance
  • Work with Plant Managers to ensure that maintenance costs are within the individual plant budgeted amount
  • Take work direction from Plant Managers on maintenance priorities
  • Be familiar with cGMP requirements for equipment, process and building maintenance
  • Execute maintenance plan with cGMP requirements addressed
  • Manage building maintenance, including contracts for grounds upkeep and building repair
  • Oversee any contract maintenance personnel working on-sit
  • Ensure that maintenance staff and contractors are properly trained and working within established safety guidelines
  • Ability to work in maintenance role if need arises
  • Assist with trouble-shooting mechanical problems

REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 10 years of maintenance experience, with 5 years of supervisory experience
  • 2 years of experience operating maintenance software
  • Specific Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of and/or skilled in the following: electricity, mechanical equipment repair, use of power tools, installation and repair of heating, ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, roofing, fabrication and safety. Be able to lift, push or pull objects of 55 lb.
  • Be able to climb and work from ladders up to 36 ft
  • Lean or Six Sigma training is a plus.
  • Maintenance software experience required
  • Micromain specific experience a plu
  • Microsoft Office experience required, including Microsoft Projects

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Generally, office conditions, with daily exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors and loud noises
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to mineral products, cleaning chemicals, restricted movement, dirty environment, hazardous materials, lifting and carrying heavy objects
  • In accordance with the OSHA Reparatory Protection Standard (29CFR 1910.134) Balchem employees are required to successfully complete annual fit testing (clean shaven req.) and medical clearance (respirator medical certification)
