JOB TITLE/ASSIGNMENT
JOB TITLE: District Floating School Nurse
SCHOOL: District
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Health Services
CERTIFICATION Current and Valid Illinois Professional Educator License or
REQUIREMENTS: Valid Registered Illinois Nursing License
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 176 Day - Full Time
START DATE: 2026-2027
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS
  1. Current and Valid Illinois Certified School Nurse Endorsement or valid nursing license in Illinois.
  2. Bachelor's Degree and Registered Nursing License.
  3. CPR Instructor certification and vision/hearing instructor certification preferred.
  4. Understanding of health service policies and procedures.
  5. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  6. Able to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Immediately administer to students who are ill or injured.
  2. Apply knowledge of current principles and practice of clinical nursing, assessment, and first aid.
  3. Perform skilled nursing procedures and emergency care as needed in accordance with board policies.
  4. Maintain student health records according to District 15 procedures ensuring compliance with state and district requirements.
  5. Compile statistical data of the acuity level of the student population to submit to the Director of Health Services.
  6. Develops and maintains current health care plans for students who need nursing interventions during the school day.
  7. Collaborates with the special education department to resolve special health needs of students and to participate in Individual Education Plan's concerning students with special needs.
  8. Consult with parents, medical practitioners and school personnel to gain an understanding of student health limitations and facilitate adjustment to any physical, mental or social needs.
  9. Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the building Principal.
