Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an SCCM / Endpoint Management Engineer to support a Texas state agency. This position will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for the administration, support, maintenance, and optimization of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Intune, and related endpoint management technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure, security, application, and business teams to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient software deployment, patch management, and endpoint compliance across the enterprise. Cross‑training and knowledge transfer to current staff will be an important responsibility of this role.

Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Intune environments supporting enterprise endpoint management operations.
  • Manage software distribution activities, including Microsoft security updates, operating system updates, and standard desktop software deployments across large-scale environments.
  • Create, configure, and manage software packages, applications, collections, deployments, and task sequences to support business and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate and prioritize software distribution schedules, security patch deployments, testing activities, and change implementation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain custom SCCM reports, dashboards, and analytics to support software compliance, hardware inventory, asset management, and capacity planning initiatives.
  • Work closely with information security teams to identify, assess, and remediate endpoint vulnerabilities and compliance risks.
  • Provide advanced Tier 3 support for SCCM infrastructure, Microsoft Intune, and enterprise desktop management platforms.
  • Meet with business stakeholders and internal customers to assess requirements, identify challenges, define project scope, and deliver software deployment solutions that align with organizational objectives.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve Configuration Manager client issues on desktop and laptop endpoints.
  • Analyze and remediate SCCM client health issues, ensuring consistent compliance and successful communication between managed devices and management infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SCCM deployment failures, distribution point issues, content replication problems, and client communication errors.
  • Administer SCCM site infrastructure, including software distribution, client health monitoring, reporting services, boundaries, boundary groups, distribution points, and bandwidth management settings.
  • Manage Windows operating systems and endpoint configurations in support of software delivery and patch management initiatives.
  • Utilize WSUS and SCCM Software Update Management to deploy, monitor, and report on security patches and operating system updates.
  • Support and maintain endpoint lifecycle management processes including provisioning, software installation, patching, compliance monitoring, and retirement activities.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, security, and application support teams to resolve complex endpoint management issues.
  • Participate in change management activities and software release processes while adhering to organizational governance and ITIL best practices.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, deployment guides, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Monitor system health, performance metrics, and compliance reporting to proactively identify opportunities for service improvement.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on experience administering Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Intune, and WSUS in enterprise environments.
  • 3–5 years of experience managing software deployments, operating system updates, security patching, and endpoint compliance initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Active Directory, endpoint security, and operating system internals.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts including DNS, TCP/IP, communication protocols, network devices, and endpoint connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience troubleshooting SCCM client issues, deployment failures, distribution point errors, content distribution problems, and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Experience managing SCCM client health monitoring, reporting, remediation, and compliance enforcement.
  • Experience developing custom SCCM reports, dashboards, and operational metrics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
  • Excellent customer service, support, and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative, cross‑functional team environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience with ITIL processes, including Change Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise software packaging, software distribution, patch management, and deployment methodologies within large organizations.
  • Experience managing Microsoft Intune policies, compliance configurations, application deployments, and device enrollment processes.
  • Knowledge of co‑management environments utilizing both SCCM and Microsoft Intune.
  • Experience supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11 enterprise environments.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation for endpoint administration and operational efficiency.
  • Experience supporting government, public sector, or highly regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of endpoint security best practices, vulnerability management, and compliance frameworks.
