Cashiers are the usually the first face you see when you come in the store so first impressions are important. It means something to the customer to be greeted in a welcoming and friendly manner.

Requirements/Responsibilities

Cashier responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Scanning items: Cashiers scan each item a customer wants to purchase, using a barcode scanner or manually entering the item's code. Making sure not to miss items in the bottom of buggy and remembering to tag items too big to be bagged with a paid label.
2. processing payments, including cash, credit or debit cards, and checks. They should be able to count change accurately and provide receipts to customers.
3. Handling returns and exchanges: If a customer wants to return or exchange an item, the cashier should process the request according to store policies and with manager approval.
4. Keeping the register area clean and organized: Cashiers are responsible for keeping their work area clean and organized, including the cash register, scanner, and bags.
5. Resolving customer complaints: If a customer has a problem or complaint, the cashier should try to resolve it quickly and courteously, or refer the customer to a supervisor if necessary.
6. Help stocking when needed.
7. Sweep and mop as needed.
