Food Pantry Driver/Resource Specialist Job Compensation:

  • $19.00 to $22.78/Per Hour (depending on experience).

Food Pantry Driver/Resource Specialist Job Responsibilities:

  1. Safely operate UMOS truck (Class 3) or van to pick up and transport donations on a daily schedule.
  2. Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on the vehicle, report any issues to a supervisor, and keep the vehicle clean.
  3. Maintain accurate trip logs, vehicle service logs, and other required documentation.
  4. Arrange for and pick up food, non-food, and other resources as needed.
  5. Load and unload food using proper safe lifting methods. This may involve carrying heavy boxes and using equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (with proper certification).
  6. Weigh all donations, sort them and put them away at their designated area.
  7. Ensure food is transported and handled according to food safety guidelines
  8.  Interact professionally with donors, resource agencies, stores, community agencies, CSBG program staff, and other UMOS programs.
  9. Prepare food baskets according to family size guidelines.
  10.  Complete client intakes distribute food and non-food items.
  11. Assist with the raffles.
  12. Maintain and organize inventory, keep storage area stocked and clean.
  13.  Daily maintenance cleaning of all pantry areas including fridge, floors and disposing of garbage.
  14. Attend related meetings, workshops, conferences as directed.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Food Pantry Driver/Resource Specialist Job Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Minimum two years of experience in truck driving or related field. 
  3. Ability to work with confidential information and documentation. 
  4. Must possess awareness, knowledge, and sensitivity to socioeconomic and culturally diverse backgrounds of the target populations served.
  5. Ability to work diplomatically with difficult people and diffuse angry customers quickly and effectively. 
  6. Ability to work irregularly non-traditional hours as needed. 
  7. Bilingual in English/Spanish verbal and written preferred. 
  8. Must have reliable transportation, possess a valid Wisconsin Drivers’s License and maintain adequate car insurance.

Work Environment, Physical, and Sensory Demands: 

Physical Demands: 

  1. Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms. 
  2. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and have the ability to lift 50-100 lb. regularly using the two-person lift technique. 
  3. Frequently exposed to fluctuating temperatures generally encountered in a controlled temperature environment and outside setting. 
  4. Noise level in this work is usually semi-moderate. 

Tools & Equipment Used: 

  1. iPad, iPhone, laptop computers, projectors, copy/scanner machine, computer. 
  2. Be able to scan documents and encrypt documents as necessary. 
  3. Use first aid equipment, fire extinguisher. Usage varies by position. 

 Additional Eligibility Requirements: 

Employment with UMOS is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background and driver license check prior to starting.
