Job description

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to join a school district office in Mundelein, Illinois on a Contract basis. This position supports day-to-day accounting and administrative operations, with a strong focus on receivables, invoicing, purchase order coordination, and accurate record maintenance. The ideal candidate brings solid transactional accounting or office support experience and is comfortable working on-site during standard school business hours.
Responsibilities:
• Record incoming payments, maintain accurate customer account details, and support timely resolution of open balances
• Prepare and issue invoices while keeping billing documentation organized and up to date
• Review purchase orders for accuracy, confirm spending aligns with departmental budgets, and support approval workflows through proper matching procedures
• Provide clerical assistance to the business office through data entry, document filing, scanning, and general records support
• Communicate with vendors and internal staff to clarify account questions and resolve routine administrative issues
• Help maintain orderly financial and purchasing files to support daily operations and reporting needs• Experience in accounts receivable, billing, invoice processing, or a similar accounting support role
• Ability to perform high-volume data entry with strong accuracy and attention to detail
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and confidence using office productivity tools, including Google Workspace
