Job Description:
  • Conducting quality checks - metal detectors, Xray Machines, Moisture Samples
  • Troubleshooting problems with equipment and products.
  • Communication with employees when conducting changeovers, line issues etc.
  • Learning the process of start-up and shut down
  • Adaptability - Maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment.
  • Read/understand daily production schedule at the start of every shift.
  • Understand the basic functions of the scaling units to ensure they are working properly.
  • Responsible for upholding the KHMS standards detailed in the plant's KHMS training program.
  • HAACP/Weight control certified.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Self-starter
  • Multitask driven
  • Strong communication skills
  • Use simple mathematics and computer skills
  • Lift 50 pounds.
  • Able to work in areas that contain dust and starch particles.
  • Able to work in hot and humid conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing and/or food processing, quality standards, hygiene, work safety, etc. preferred.
  • Attention to details when conducting quality checks.

Physical/Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Ability to use hands/arms to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to work in all areas of the facility including hot and cold areas and be exposed to wet and humid conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and or move up to 50 lbs. or more.
  • Must have excellent vision, distant and peripheral, with the ability to identify and distinguish colors, and adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually high, and ear protection is required.
  • May work near moving mechanical parts, high and/or confining places.

Plant Overview:
  • Employing 280 employees across 3 shifts.
  • Purchased in 1934 from Breyer's Ice Cream and began producing caramel in 1935.
  • Began producing Marshmallows and Marshmallow Crème in 1961 and Marbits (think dehydrated marshmallows found in cereal) in 1979.
  • Kendallville is the sole producer of all our product lines.' Kendallville is located about 30 minutes north of Fort Wayne and offers a small-town community.
