Job description

Pioneer Recycling Services, a Waste Connections Company, is currently hiring a Scale House Attendant to join our team in Frederickson, WA.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has strong attention to detail, and wants to be part of the growing recycling and sustainability industry.
The Scale House Attendant serves as the first point of contact for customers, drivers, and vendors while supporting daily operational and administrative functions.
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour DOE
Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do:
Scale House Operations
  • Process inbound and outbound truck transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify customer, commodity, and billing information.
  • Weigh inbound and outbound loads while ensuring compliance with company procedures.
  • Enter, update, correct, and manage scale tickets using WasteWorks and related software.
  • Maintain accurate records of recycling commodities including glass, metal, trash, exports, and other materials.
  • Assist drivers, customers, and vendors with check-in, check-out, and documentation questions.

Customer Service
  • Provide outstanding service to customers, vendors, and drivers.
  • Answer questions and resolve issues professionally and efficiently.
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for Pioneer Recycling Services.

Administrative & Accounting Support
  • Assist with invoicing, billing, and general accounting functions.
  • Receive and process customer payments.
  • Scan checks, prepare deposits, and maintain payment records.
  • Match ACH remittances and apply payments accurately.
  • Maintain cash logs and supporting documentation.
  • Contact customers regarding account questions and past-due balances.

Shipping & Operations Support
  • Coordinate outbound shipments and container pickups.
  • Communicate with carriers and customers regarding schedules and shipment status.
  • Update shipping and export documentation.
  • Generate and distribute daily and weekly operational reports.
  • Maintain purchase orders and operational records.

Office Administration
  • Maintain records and spreadsheets using Excel and other company systems.
  • Order office supplies and support general office operations.
  • Work closely with Operations, Transportation, Customer Service, and Accounting teams.

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum of 1 year of administrative, clerical, customer service, accounting support, or related experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office proficiency, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail and data-entry accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic math skills and comfort handling cash and payments.
  • Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with WasteWorks or similar scale, billing, dispatch, or transaction management systems.
  • Experience in recycling, transportation, logistics, construction, landfill, aggregate, or industrial operations.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
