Job description

Job Title: Psychiatric Physician (Part-Time, Scalable)
Location: Warrenton, VA
Contract Type: One-year contract with four (4) optional renewals
Work Arrangement: 10-15 hours/month onsite (scalable to 5 days/week) + 24/7 phone availability
Employment Type: Part-Time, Contract
The Psychiatric Physician will provide direct psychiatric evaluation, treatment, and consultative services to residents of the Puller Veterans Care Center. The role includes medication management, staff and family consultations, mental health compliance oversight, and active participation in QAPI.
Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and manage psychotropic medications
  • Provide 10-15 hours/month onsite (scalable to 5 days/week)
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in psychiatric care delivery
  • Collaborate with staff and families regarding mental health plans
  • Participate in policy development, QAPI, and care team meetings
  • Be available 24/7 via phone for mental health consults/emergencies
  • Train staff on mental health care protocols
  • Oversee documentation and ensure EMR entries are up-to-date
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD in Psychiatry with unrestricted Virginia license
  • Minimum 12 months of psychiatric experience in long-term care
  • Proficiency in psychotropic medication management and resident consent
  • Must be available on or after November 1, 2025
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with elderly or veteran populations
  • Familiarity with SNF psychiatric documentation and compliance practices
  • Knowledge of CMS psychiatric regulations
  • Capacity to scale psychiatric coverage based on census changes
