Job Summary
The Bowers Group, a Legence company, is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Safety Coordinator to join our team. This is an in-field position based in the DMV area. The Safety Coordinator supports daily safety execution on active construction projects. This role works closely with field construction teams to promote safe behaviors, ensure compliance, and assist with job site safety operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with executing Bowers' safety strategy and zero-accident culture on assigned projects.
  • Monitor daily construction activities for compliance with OSHA, client/owner and company safety policies.
  • Implement the General Contractors safety program and ensure adherence to established industry standards.
  • Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and field observations
  • Assist and/or lead with incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up actions
  • Participate in safety audits and compliance inspections
  • Track and report safety observations, trends, and corrective actions
  • Reinforce a behavior-based safety culture across field crews

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • OSHA30 for construction
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to walk long distances, stand for extended periods of time and traverse different types of terrain and elevations
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs from different levels
  • 2+ years of commercial construction safety experience preferred
  • Preferred formal safety training, including OSHA 500 in construction and competency in scaffolding, crane management, steel erection, emergency response, fall management, excavation and confined space, rigging, hazardous waste
  • Ability to identify and correct safety deficiencies in the field preferred

  • This is an in-field position based in the DMV area
  • Typical working hours for this role are 5:30am - 1:30pm
