Job description

**Position Summary

**

We are looking for a Controls Engineer who knows GM standards (GCCS or FACS) and is strong with Rockwell PLCs. This role is onsite in Warren, MI. The engineer will design, support, migrate, and standardize plant control systems, with a focus on SCADA (Ignition preferred), Beckhoff EtherCAT, and developing soft automation standards.

**Key Responsibilities

**

  • Design, program, commission, and troubleshoot Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLC systems (ControlLogix / CompactLogix, Studio 5000).

  • Apply GM controls standards, including GCCS (Global Common Control Software / Global Common Controls Standards) and/or FACS (Flexible Assembly Configuration System), on new and existing equipment.

  • Migrate legacy control logic and documentation to current GM-aligned standards.

  • Develop, document, and maintain soft automation standards, reusable logic, templates, and naming conventions.

  • Design, configure, and support SCADA systems; Ignition is preferred.

  • Integrate and support Beckhoff hardware and EtherCAT networks with plant PLC, HMI, and SCADA architectures.

  • Support industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT) and coordinate with IT/OT as needed.

  • Read, redline, and update electrical schematics, I/O lists, and controls documentation.

  • Support installation, debug, launch, and production issues on the plant floor.

  • Partner with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and integrators to improve uptime, safety, and commonality across cells.
