Job Description:

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of working crews operating specialized heavy equipment used in construction, repair, and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure and drainage systems. You will manage project work by: developing project approaches, setting up project schedules, coordinating material ordering and delivery, overseeing project quality and workmanship, and verifying completed projects meet expectations.
Examples of Duties:
  • Supervises the work of the crews to ensure that the work is being completed safely, accurately and efficiently.
  • Provides technical expertise on complex drainage infrastructure construction work.
  • Ensures that all personnel are adequately trained to carry out their duties.
  • Ensures compliance with safety policies and conducts monthly safety meeting.
  • Plans and schedules daily workload for crews and ensures that all work is completed.
  • Plans and estimates the materials and hours needed to complete jobs.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment, and establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Ensures that all equipment is properly maintained, clean and ready for use.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Inspects work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used.
  • Completes time and production records, and prepares required reports.
  • May operate motor equipment such as excavators, backhoes, and dump trucks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree (AA/AS) or equivalent Trade School training and 3 years of related experience; OR high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 5 years of related experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current SC Commercial Driver's License - Class A
