Job description

SBA LOAN SPECIALIST
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Supports the entire City National Bank ("CNB") network of business units. Assists colleagues in analyzing the needs of clients and prospects and provides information about Small Business Administration ("SBA") / Government Guaranteed products and services that can enhance client's financial position. Collaborates with CNB colleagues with the closing of SBA/ Government Guaranteed deals and the implementation of banking services. Interacts with Bank colleagues to discuss prospects/referrals and formulate strategies to promote better sourcing of opportunities and processing efficiencies. Documents all colleague interactions regarding Small Business Administration ("SBA") products and provides reports to management as necessary.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Develops relationships with Bank colleagues to increase the overall level of SBA/ Government Guaranteed product familiarity and processing efficiency.
  • Cultivates internal referral sources through contacts within the Bank to obtain new business prospects and referrals.
  • Assists colleagues in turning prospects into clients; discusses and cross-sells appropriate products/services specifically with SBA/ Government Guaranteed lending products.
  • Achieves specific processing goals as established in the SBA Loan Specialist Scorecard. Documents required activities and maintains call reports to Management.
  • Collaborates with Relationship Managers and other CNB Colleagues with the sales and implementation of SBA/ Government Guaranteed products and related banking services. Hands off clients/prospects to Relationship Managers and CNB Colleagues after the SBA/ Government Guaranteed deal is closed.
  • Interacts with Bank colleagues to discuss prospects/referrals and formulates strategies.
  • Assists in training of CNB Colleagues with SBA and other Government Guaranteed products.
  • Continues to raise awareness of SBA/ Government Guaranteed products throughout the Bank.
  • It is the individual responsibility of every employee to maintain a current awareness and understanding of the appropriate banking laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures, and to comply fully with those laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Complies fully with all bank risk management, operational and credit policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, Know Your Client, Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending Practices, City National Code of Conduct, etc.)

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Required Qualifications*
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in SBA environment required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a direct sales environment required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).

Additional Qualifications
  • Prefer Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree or experience.
  • Previous underwriting experience is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of Bank asset and liability products.
  • Thorough understanding of banking services.
  • General understanding of the commercial credit underwriting process.
  • Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated sales skills.

Starting base salary: $101,231 - $172,355 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
