Job description

Opportunity

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Mid Level SATCOM Systems Engineer to support our Schriever SFB, CO location.

The candidate will provide technical services to Terminal and Modem Performance Certification Engineering support for the Combat Forces Command/Delta 8 SATCOM, Wideband System Engineering team.

Duties Include:

  • Evaluate terminal and modem performance certification reports through all phases of the performance certification process.
  • Generate an engineering-based assessment for each terminal and modem performance certification report and determine compliance or non-compliance with the above performance criteria.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to vendors, Government PMs or the Wideband C-SSE to modify a system design or configuration when necessary to bring a terminal or modem into compliance with performance certification requirements and standards.
  • Evaluate new SATCOM technologies and recommend changes to current performance certification requirements and standards.
  • Review WGS and DSCS satellite performance certification test procedures and provide input to change or modify processes and procedures if required.
  • Provide support for test and evaluation during WGS and DSCS on-orbit testing, operational evaluations, and anomaly resolution.
  • Review WGS and DSCS satellite performance certification test reports and generate engineering-based assessments of the results.
  • Provide engineering-based support for system modifications, changes, and updates to the Wideband Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Operational Management System (WSOMS).
  • Maintain and update off-line and on-line modem and terminal static databases within WSOMS.
  • Support Wideband SATCOM mission planning using WSOMS.
  • Interpret terminal and modem performance, characteristics, and functionality to build models in WSOMS.
  • Use knowledge and understanding of satellite and terminal radio frequency characteristics.
  • Use knowledge and understanding of modem and terminal performance.
  • Conduct detailed analysis and long term trending of satellite, modem and terminal resources.
  • Apply industry-standard engineering methods to support terminal-to-satellite interoperability, anomaly resolution, and network planning.
Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5 Years of Department of Defense (DoD) SATCOM experience
  • Knowledge of Wideband SATCOM Systems necessary
  • Travel: 25%
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD TOP Secret clearance with SCI is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active TOP Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Military Standard (MIL-STD) 188-164B, MIL-STD 188-165A, Standardization Agreement (NATO) (STANAG) 4486 and 4606, and European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) Standard EN302 307
  • Knowledge of Wideband SATCOM, preferably transmissions, payload control, and mission planning experience
  • Knowledge of WB C-SSE Terminal Performance Certification and Modem Performance Certification
  • Significant military familiarity and training in SATCOM 
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in SATCOM principles, technical analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (In Engineering Discipline)
