Description
Industrial Engineering Manager Responsiblities Defined:
  • Responsible for developing Production Processes that comply with NORD assembly and machining methods, developing standards for US product, providing analysis to determine the authorized headcount based on company standards, developing and modifying plant layouts in AutoCAD, and supporting the same functions at the satellite facilities.
  • Collaborate with Materials and Production teams to develop and maintain accurate routings in SAP. Support processes, system improvements, and standards related to SAP.
  • Establish annual operations capital budgets and coordinate the planning and implementation of capital projects in collaboration with department leaders. This position is responsible for ensuring capital expenditures are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with project objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the Parent Company's Industrial Engineering and Process teams in Germany to develop and implement standardized processes, where applicable, for products manufactured in the U.S. facilities. This position will conduct time studies (work measurement) and develop labor standards to support operational efficiency. The Industrial Engineering Manager will collaborate with Production Supervisors on process changes and new product that impact their areas to ensure a smooth implementation and minimize disruption to production.
  • Responsible for overseeing the NORDPro system for North America. This role drives continuous improvement initiatives by identifying waste within processes and implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to enhance efficiency, quality, and overall operational performance.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and stay current on industry best practices to improve production processes. This position will also develop a working knowledge of the PLC systems associated with shop floor equipment to effectively support manufacturing operations and process improvements
  • The Industrial Engineering Manager is an integral part of NGC's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program. This position is responsible for adhering to and enforcing all company policies, procedures, and standards, including those related to ISO, Human Resources, Safety, and other applicable company requirements.

Description
  • Plant Layouts - Develop, modify, and update the layouts in AutoCAD for all NORD U.S. facilities.
  • Production Processes - Develop, modify, and update production processes to maximize productivity, safety, quality and delivery. Conduct time studies used to develop labor standards. Update labor standards in SAP routings as needed for production.
  • Leadership - Lead the Industrial Engineering team to accomplish all required activities and provide the responsive support required by production. Prioritize projects and support activities in coordination with both plant and corporate leadership. Take on projects when needed. Represent U.S. operations in Operations Technology projects (IT/OT).
  • Development - Manage and develop the professional and technical skills of the engineers assigned to your department
  • Satellite Facility Support - Support the satellite facilities layouts, processes, and all activities related to continual improvement.
  • Facility Expansions and construction - Lead all projects related to facility expansion and relocations of production operations. Analyze production facility and equipment options, develop layouts, plan and execute expansions/moves. The IE Manager and his/her team will work closely with Maintenance/Facility Supervisor, Supply Chain Management, and Germany as well as any outside agencies used in the project.
  • Support Production - Assist with Action Item Resolution, attend Accountability Meetings and or Kaizen meetings if requested, participate in Safety Committee meetings, and assist with any quality related issues.
  • Write Investment Requests, also called Capital Authorization Requests (CAR's), and Purchase Orders (PO's) for all capital and expense items related to achieving company goals. Capital Budget coordination and adherence.
  • Be an active participant in the company's suggestion, quality, efficiency and cost-saving programs!

Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or relevant engineering discipline. Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing training is required. Leadership training or demonstrated leadership experience is highly preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of Industrial Engineering and/or Manufacturing Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Prior leadership experience is required. Candidates must have experience supporting assembly and machining operations. Experience in the industrial machinery industry or exposure to the power transmission industry is preferred. Experience leading Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives and fostering a strong safety culture is also required.
Skills and Key Attributes: Demonstrated ability to analyze manufacturing processes and implement process improvements that enhance operational performance. Experience developing labor standards through time studies and work measurement techniques is required. Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is essential. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and project management is required. Working knowledge of ergonomics and OSHA regulations is required. The successful candidate must be team-oriented, possess strong communication and collaboration skills, and have a proven ability to lead and implement organizational changes that improve safety, quality, productivity, and overall business performance.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 10 hours per day.
