Job description

What you'll bring to the team
The Sales Manager is responsible for converting inbound group and event inquiries into booked business across Merlin's North American attractions portfolio, while also proactively cultivating new demand from third-party planners, agencies, and corporate buyers. The role balances responsive, high-quality enquiry handling with outbound relationship-building to position Merlin attractions as distinctive, memorable venues for meetings and events. This role partners closely with the team Event Coordinator to ensure a seamless handover from sales to planning and execution.
This is a remote position, ideally based in Orlando, FL. Occasional travel may be required.
Qualifications & Experience
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all North America MICE and group inquiries across Merlin attractions (e.g., corporate events, meetings, conferences, buyouts, incentive experiences).
  • Respond to inquiries promptly, qualify needs, and convert qualified leads into confirmed bookings in line with revenue and conversion targets.
  • Prepare and issue proposals, quotes, and contracts using approved templates, working within established pricing and commercial guidelines.
  • Clearly articulate venue capabilities, packages, and experience options, tailoring recommendations to client objectives and budgets.
  • Strong negotiation skills, able to craft win-win agreements protecting profit margins while meeting client objectives.
  • Work closely with on-site attraction teams (operations, F&B, events) to confirm availability, feasibility, and pricing for proposed events.
  • Maintain strong relationships with each attraction to stay current on capacities, new products, blackout dates, and operational constraints.
  • Coordinate site visits (virtual and in-person as needed) with venue teams and support them with necessary sales information.
  • Proactively identify and engage lead sources including third-party planners, group travel partners, DMCs, and venue-finding agencies to generate new group and event opportunities.
  • Represent the Merlin North America attractions portfolio in a polished, brand-aligned way at industry events, webinars, sales calls, and virtual showcases as required.
  • Develop and maintain a robust top-of-funnel for target segments in partnership with the Global MICE Director.
  • Maintain accurate records of all leads, proposals, and bookings in the designated CRM.
  • Produce regular pipeline and performance reports (e.g., enquiry volume, conversion, revenue by attraction) and provide insight into trends, barriers, and opportunities to inform continuous improvement of Merlin offerings.
  • Comfortable working in a target-driven environment, managing both activity metrics (outreach, follow-ups) and revenue goals.
  • Able to interpret basic sales reports and use data to adjust approach and identify opportunities (conversion, lead sources, segment mix)
  • Monitor competitor activity and market expectations (e.g., commission levels, package inclusions, pricing) and share insights with the wider team to inform strategy.

Qualifications and Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in group sales, event sales, or venue sales, ideally within attractions, theme parks, hospitality, live entertainment, or similar venues.
  • Demonstrated success converting inbound inquiries into booked events and achieving or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Familiarity with working across multiple locations or a portfolio of venues is strongly preferred.
  • Experience building relationships with third-party planners, agencies, or travel trade accounts is an asset.
  • Willingness to potentially travel periodically within North America for site visits and industry events as required.
  • Strong sales acumen with the ability to qualify quickly, position value, handle objections, and close business.
  • Existing relationships with third-party planners, agencies or corporate buyers in key markets is a plus.
  • Comfortable thinking beyond traditional meeting space solutions to design smart and practical experiences in less conventional, immersive attraction environments.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with a polished, professional style suitable for corporate clients.
  • Highly organized, comfortable managing multiple inquiries, deadlines, and stakeholders across time zones.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work hand-in-hand with venue operations and event delivery teams.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment, with strong self-management and follow-through.
  • Proficient with common office software (SharePoint, Microsoft) and comfortable learning event management and CRM systems to document and share information.
