The SAP Principal Analyst reports to SAP Manager - Record to Report within LyondellBasell's (LYB) ERP Modernization. This is a mid-career role responsible for technology innovation, implementing best in class solutions and ensuring stable operation in the Finance domain.

The SAP Principal Analyst will be a key contributor to LYB's enterprise S/4 implementation program. The focus is on Record to Report processes, that covers Finance and Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Inventory accounting, AP, AR, Financial planning and analysis, Consolidation and Reporting. The technology footprint today encompasses SAP solution suite - ECC, S/4 (for one business segment) and others. Besides this, there are multiple connected applications. The job involves partnering with Finance and other functions to identify fit-for-purpose IT solutions, coaching junior analysts, and collaborating with Digital Technology's Business Interface, Enterprise Architecture and Project Delivery groups. The candidate should have a proven record of leading and working in global multi-cultural teams, creating, scaling and operating enterprise Finance solutions in SAP ERP and integrated applications, implementing S/4, and managing SAP operations.

A Day in the Life

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Solution delivery

Key contributor in ERP modernization through S/4 implementation. Involevement in all phases starting with preparation through execution and operations.

  • Design, build, test and deploy end-to-end solutions that meet business requirements, and industry and LYB standards.
  • Work closely with Finance department to gather, analyze, and translate business needs into detailed functional specifications.
  • Configure SAP; design integration to connected applications.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide solutions.
  • Be responsible for connected applications like SAP Trading Platform Integration, Multi-bank Connectivity, Serrala Autobank, Refinitiv DataScope Select, Misys Confirmation Matching Services, Vertex, Thomson Reuters OneSource applications and others.
  • Supervise work done by application maintenance partners and system integrators. Be accountable for quality of solution.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for automation and standardization to optimize business operations.
  • Ensure adherence to LYB standards and industry best practices.

Operations

  • Oversee incident resolution working with our application maintenance provider ensuring timely resolution of issues and effective communication with business stakeholders.
  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement. 
  • Maintain solution documentation; improve documentation where required, for example for custom programs. Create Knowledge Base Articles (KBA).

Technology leadership

 

  • Building solution roadmap by aligning SAP technology with business goals.
  • Continue to grow knowledge of regulatory requirements and SAP innovations.
  • Train and coach others.

Be ready to travel approximately 20% domestically and internationally, if required by the company.


You Bring This Value

Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Management, Engineering, or other related discipline.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in SAP functional design, with a deep focus on the SAP Financials suite.
  • End-to-end implementations on SAP S/4 and multi-country rollouts.
  • Deep expertise in end-to-end R2R processes, such as journal entry management, account reconciliation, period-end close, consolidation and reporting, material ledger and others.
  • Strong proficiency in SAP S/4HANA. Certification is S/4HANA is necessary.
  • Knowledge of SAP architecture, market trends, operations and business drivers
  • Ability to propose and present a convincing business case and product roadmap to senior leaders.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing operations of a portfolio of SAP solutions and connected applications, in partnership with an external party.
  • Experience of managing SAP projects is preferable.
  • Experience managing ITIL-based support (Incident, Problem, and Change Management) using tools like ServiceNow or SAP Solution Manager and ALM
  • Experience in collaborating with global teams across time zones.
