Job description

Feed Accounting Specialist

Full-Time  ·  On-Site  ·  Food Production

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're placing a Feed Accounting Specialist for a food production operation that takes its numbers as seriously as its operations. This role is the financial backbone of the feed mill — keeping costs accurate, inventory clean, and reporting reliable. You'll work side-by-side with production and finance teams to keep everything reconciled and audit-ready.

If you're someone who finds satisfaction in a balanced ledger, knows your way around a production variance, and thrives in an environment where the work is real and the pace is real — this one's worth a look.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Process and reconcile ingredient invoices; coordinate with procurement on discrepancies
  • Track feed production data and verify accuracy of daily and weekly reports
  • Maintain and reconcile feed inventory, including cycle counts and adjustments
  • Prepare journal entries for feed production, ingredient usage, and related costs
  • Review production variances and escalate discrepancies when warranted
  • Support month-end close activities for feed operations
  • Generate weekly feed cost reports and performance summaries
  • Assist with annual feed budget creation and ongoing updates
  • Support internal and external audit requests tied to feed operations
  • Monitor ingredient pricing and update cost tables as needed
  • Ensure compliance with internal control requirements
  • Coordinate with nutrition, live production, and accounting teams on data accuracy
  • Review vendor statements and resolve billing inconsistencies
  • Maintain documentation for all feed mill transactions
  • Assist with updates in feed management systems (MTECH or similar)

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (preferred)
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing or agriculture
  • Feed mill or production accounting background is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as MTECH or SAP
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets
  • Ability to reconcile discrepancies and work through ambiguity
  • Clear communicator who can work across operational and finance teams
  • Organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is an office-based role located within a production facility. You'll have regular interaction with feed mill operations and may need to travel occasionally between company facilities. The role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform occasional bending, reaching, and kneeling.
