Job description

Job Summary
At Santa Fe Springs Optometry, we believe in leaving the world a little better than we found it.  Our mission is to provide and preserve our patients' sharpest vision so they can focus on what matters most to them.   We are a small family office that has been serving Santa Fe Springs and the surrounding communities for over 40 years, and believe you will find working at our office to be rewarding and fun!  We are seeking an outgoing, team-oriented, friendly Technican and Front Desk Associate.  As our pre-tester, your primary role will be to run essential tests (such as autorefraction, visual acuities, retinal photos) to prepare the patients to see the doctor.  When not working directly with patients, your role will be to assist the front office with answering phones and emails to communicate with our patients, as well as assist with medical billing and processing orders for glasses and contact lenses. 
Responsibilities 
  • Work-up patients prior to seeing doctor
    • Includes autorefraction, lensometry, retinal photos (Optos), intraocualar pressure assessment (using iCare), visual acuities, case history, medical history and recording all above tests in patient's electronic medical record (average 10 patients per day)
    • May also assist with special testing (visual fields, hand-held ERG) for specialty/medical visits (average 1-2 patients per day)
  • Open office 30 minutes prior to marked business hours
    • Tuesday-Friday, 8:30AM-5:30PM with 1 hour lunch, Saturday 8:00-3:30 with 30 minute lunch
    • Turn on equipment, turn on lights, unlock doors, restock office supplies, clean bathroom, mop floors, dust frame displays
  • Billing for medical procedures (no prior medical billing/coding experience required)
  • Checking in orders and notifying patients for glasses/contact lens pickup
  • Ordering contact lenses and restocking contact lens trial supply
  • Answer inbound phone calls / returning voicemails
  • Make outgoing phone recalls (calling patients to remind them it is time for their yearly exam) and create/send out office postcards
  • Schedule, confirm, and cancel appointments
  • Process payments 
  • Other administrative duties, as assigned

  • Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred
