A Sanitation Associate is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation standards within the facility. This role involves cleaning and disinfecting work areas, equipment, and surfaces to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. The Sanitation Associate plays a critical role in preventing the spread of germs, maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations, and upholding the organization's cleanliness standards.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and Sanitizing: Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and wiping surfaces. Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, production areas, equipment, and other designated areas according to established protocols and schedules.


  • Waste Management: Collect and dispose of waste, garbage, and recyclable materials in designated containers or disposal areas. Follow proper waste management procedures and adhere to environmental regulations.


  • Chemical Handling: Dilute and mix cleaning chemicals following safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions. Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of cleaning agents and supplies.


  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain cleaning equipment, such as mops, brooms, vacuums, and scrubbers. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.


  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents or injuries. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors.


  • Sanitation Inspections: Conduct routine inspections to identify sanitation issues or areas that require attention. Report findings and work with the appropriate team members to address and resolve identified issues.


  • Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment. Notify supervisors or procurement personnel of any shortages or needs for replenishment.


  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete sanitation logs, checklists, or other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Report completed tasks and document any deviations from established procedures.


  • Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure effective sanitation practices and maintain cleanliness standards. Communicate any sanitation-related concerns or recommendations to supervisors.


  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency, and effectiveness in sanitation practices. Propose and implement ideas to enhance sanitation protocols and standards.

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required
