Job description

Velocity Aerospace Group is a subsidiary of Precision Aviation Group (PAG), a full service, inventory supported MRO provider in the aviation industry with 23 domestic and international business units.ย  Velocity operates 3 repair stations, specializing in the repair, overhaul, installation and upgrade of electromechanical, digital, pneumatic, avionic, and gyroscopic components for aircraft operators and maintainers in the commercial/regional airline, government and defense operation, business and general aviation markets.ย 

Velocity EDN in Van Nuys, California offers multiple service options for Large Instrument Panel refurbishments and modifications. Our EDN facility has an opening for a Sanding Associate.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Abrade surface of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust and dirt
  • Perform specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment: Shovels or pours abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper
  • Mask specified areas of object to protect from abrading action
  • Examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Designated as Cabinet-Abrasive Sandblaster; Shotblaster

  • Ability to work well in self-directed or team environment
  • Excellent in English written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge in simple math
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willing to learn and self-motivated
  • Good attitude and always have service mind
  • Ability to work overtime, shift/weekends when needed
  • Physical requirement: very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing, frequent lifting and/or move items over 50 lbs; ability to perform in close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and adjust focus.

Preferred: 1 year experience in Sanding or Paint preparation will be helpful
