Job description

PainterMMI Industrial & Steel - MESA, AZ 85210

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare steel components for painting by cleaning, sanding, grinding, and masking all required surfaces.
  • Apply primer, paint, and finish coatings using spray guns and related equipment in accordance with quality, safety, and production standards.
  • Work inside a paint booth and follow all required PPE, respirator use, and chemical-handling safety protocols.
  • Maintain coating accuracy, consistency, and surface quality while meeting production timelines and job specifications.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in the preparation and coating of steel materials.
  • Move throughout the shop and position self around large steel components, including accessing elevated areas (ladders, platforms, or scaffolding) as required by the task.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards; identify and report safety concerns promptly.
  • Communicate with team members to coordinate workflow, ensure accuracy, and verify job requirements.
  • Inspect completed work for quality, neatness, and adherence to coating specifications.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and remain in a stationary or semi-stationary position during surface preparation and painting tasks.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment up to 50 lbs., consistent with medium-duty physical demands .
  • Ability to bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb, and maneuver in tight or confined spaces to access all sides of steel components.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm motions required for sanding, taping/masking, grinding, and use of spray equipment.
  • Ability to work inside a paint booth with appropriate PPE, including respirators, and tolerate exposure to fumes, airborne particulates, chemicals, and fluctuating temperatures (hot/cold) with proper ventilation controls .
  • Ability to move throughout the shop and between workstations as needed to complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to safely operate or work around machinery, powered tools, and shop equipment.
