As a Sam’s Cafe Associate, Back of House, you will ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation and service areas while supporting efficient kitchen operations. This role involves preparing food items according to established standards, maintaining inventory, and adhering to food safety policies. You will collaborate with team members to deliver quality service, manage supplies, and uphold company procedures. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential to maintain a safe, organized, and customer-focused environment that aligns with Walmart’s commitment to integrity and operational excellence.
About the team:
The Sam’s Cafe Back of House team operates in a dynamic environment focused on delivering quality guest experiences through a scratch kitchen model. Team members work collaboratively to uphold food safety, sanitation, and operational standards while efficiently managing kitchen tasks and inventory. Clear communication, accountability, and adaptability are essential to meet daily demands professionally. Leadership provides ongoing training to ensure compliance with company policies. This team is dedicated to operational excellence, consistent service, and customer satisfaction, maintaining high standards in food preparation and kitchen management at all times.
What you'll do:
  • Inspect and clean food preparation and serving areas following company policies to maintain sanitation and safety standards.
  • Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, washing dishes, and emptying food service areas during shifts.
  • Acquire, stock, and organize food supplies, kitchen equipment, and utensils to support efficient kitchen operations.
  • Provide customer service by greeting guests, responding to inquiries, processing payments, and assisting with food preferences.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety policies by monitoring temperatures, completing logs, and sanitizing work areas.
  • Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks, communicate progress, and support continuous improvement efforts.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in food preparation and service areas following established safety standards.
  • Experience in handling kitchen equipment, including baking and grilling tools, with attention to proper operation and maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with customers and team members, ensuring excellent service and collaboration.
  • Ability to manage inventory by estimating needs, stocking supplies, and organizing utensils and food items efficiently.
  • Commitment to following company policies, ethical standards, and food safety procedures consistently.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks such as mopping, sweeping, loading, and unloading with attention to detail.

The hourly wage range for this position is $16.00 - $28.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
