Job Description

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for coordinating sample receipt, logging, tracking, distribution, and documentation activities while also supporting the Environmental Monitoring (EM) program through sample collection, incubation management, and data recording. The primary focus is on sample management while supporting the site's environmental monitoring program as needed for clients. Approximately 75% of the role is dedicated to Sample Coordination activities and 25% to Environmental Monitoring activities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the administrative and technical aspects of laboratory operations and is looking to build a career in quality control laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and inspect incoming product samples, verifying accuracy against client sample submission forms and identifying any discrepancies. Work with clients and Finance when discrepancies between quotes and received samples exist.
  • Accurately log and categorize samples in the sample logbook, create sample acknowledgement form, ensuring proper labeling and systematic tracking. 
  • Assist with the transition from a sample logbook to an electronic LIMS system for the receipt, acknowledgement and tracking of samples.
  • Organize and store samples securely while maintaining accessibility within the laboratory. Process internal sample requests by retrieving and distributing the required samples to the correct laboratory.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding sample receipt, sample-related issues and required modifications.
  • Support Environmental Monitoring as needed such as water sampling, non-viable particulates, viable air, viable surfaces, and gas testing in cleanroom environments within the Manufacturing area at Client's site, as per applicable standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Operate monitoring equipment that includes but is not limited to Laser Particle Counter, Viable Air Sampler, Microscope, and pH meter.
  • Read EM (Environmental Monitoring) data and document results on relevant forms.
  • Participate in validation/verification of controlled environments such as cleanroom, and gowning qualification.
  • Record test results accurately and legibly on all documents.
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Drive own car for off-site work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Must have:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory testing environment.
  • Associate's degree in scientific discipline. (Bachelor's preferred) or equivalent from four-year college or university, preferably in Microbiology or a relevant life sciences discipline.
  • Valid driver's license and transportation as offsite travel is required for this role
  • Ability to apply knowledge of good manufacturing practices and good laboratory practices daily.
  • The understanding and ability to perform aseptic and relevant microbiological techniques.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without restrictions or sponsorship

This is a full-time position, working Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, overtime as needed.  Candidates currently living within commutable distance to North Brunswick, NJ are encouraged to apply. Compensation is $25-28/hr depending on experience level/
