Job description

The Senior Provider Reimbursement Analystย is responsible forย development and management ofย fee schedules, including sample schedules,ย and alternative payment methodologiesย (APM)ย that support strategic and corporate goals.ย This position develops provider reimbursement mechanismsย using industry standardsย and in alignment with state and corporate financial initiativesย andย recommends areas for optimization.ย ย Overseesย theย end-to-end rate development processesย for new,ย revisedย andย deletedย Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes; the implementation of systemic fee schedules and rate tablesย and ensures that fee schedules are configuredย in accordance withย best practice.ย This position developsย andย maintainsย departmentย fee scheduleย dashboards, reportsย and/or, presentations and conducts researchย toย ensure financial information has beenย configuredย accurately;ย identifiesย trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings to management.ย ย 

Duties and Responsibilities:ย 

Responsibilities include,ย but not limited to:ย 

  • Responsible for provider reimbursement rate developmentย for professional, institutional, ancillary and LTSS providers,ย ongoing analysis of current reimbursement models, schedules, and proposed changesย ย 

  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance ofย fee schedules,ย includingย butย not limited to,ย sample fee schedules andย standardized metrics for the quantification of quality,ย valueย and costย 

  • Responsible to research and articulateย current and emergentย provider payment models and changes with the health care industryย 

  • Responsible for theย creation ofย providerย financial modelingย to support alternative payment methodologiesย andย ย reimbursementย proposalsย in alignment withย strategic and corporate goalsย 

  • Development of payment hierarchy, gathering ofย business requirementsย and auditing of claim processing system(s) toย ensure system configuration supportsย accurateย fee schedule and default implementation; process changes as necessaryย 

  • Completesย complexย andย ad-hoc analyses and reportingย ย 

  • Representsย the department at cross-functional meetingsย 

  • Responsible for providerย fee scheduleย auditingย 

  • Coordinatesย activities with auditors and actuaries, as applicableย 

  • Attendsย provider negotiations, as requestedย by managementย 

  • Performs other duties as assignedย

Qualifications-ย ย 

Required:ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree inย Mathematics, Finance, Economicsย or a related field or an equivalent amount of education and experienceย in lieu of a degreeย 

  • Five (5) yearsโ€™ experience with a managed care organization or a health care related organization (e.g.ย HMO, Medicaid, Medicare), specificallyย with commercial, Medicaid or Medicare contracting and reimbursement methodologiesย 

  • Three (3)ย toย five (5) yearsโ€™ experience in provider reimbursementย andย Alternative Payment Methodology financial modeling (e.g.ย ACO, bundles, episodic payment, etc.)ย 

  • Advanced skills in Microsoftย Officeย suite, specifically inย Excelย 

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in data analytics, provider reimbursement mechanisms, such asย Medicare reimbursement methodologies, fee-for-service, per diem, case rate, Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRG), Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC),ย  Ambulatoryย Surgery Center (ASC), and Resource Utilization Group (RUGs)ย 

  • Demonstrated understanding of contractual language, health insurance; insurance laws and regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid policies; claims processing; medical and insurance terminologyย ย 

  • Knowledge of CMS, Federal and State laws and requirements and other applicable industry standards and benchmarksย 

  • Ability to travelย includingย havingย reliable transportation. Must haveย a valid driverโ€™s license and proof of insurance if using own vehicleย 

Preferred:ย 

  • Masterโ€™sย degree in Health Care Informatics, Health Care Administration, Business Administration or Public Healthย or a related fieldย 

  • American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) certificationย
