Sample Handler

Job Description

• The QC Sample Handling Technician will assist a multi-discipline support staff with primary responsibility for receiving, aliquoting, distributing, and handling materials, as well as with documentation of GMP samples in support of multi-product and multi-site testing laboratories

• The technician may also be expected to assist with GMP data transcription and verification on paper and in electronic systems

• Assist the sample handling team with receiving biological sample shipments

• Inventory and shipping of in-process, reference and stability materials, which requires handling cold samples for long periods of time

• Label vials with barcodes printed from a laboratory information management system (LIMS)

• Download temperature information from the shipping temperature monitors to a computer for evaluation

• Maintain and archive shipping records in accordance with company SOPs.

• The technician may also be expected to: Transcribe data from one system to another and perform 100% accuracy verification for previously transcribed data.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a highly regulated environment and comply with GMP expectations

• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills in order to start and complete a task

• Ability to handle cold samples for long periods of time and cold environments for short periods of time

• Effective interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities

• Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, and computer literate enough to quickly learn new systems

• Ability to comply with sample handling safety instructions

• Previous experience working in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment is desired, but not required.
