Job Summary:

To assist the store in promoting and sampling designated product to increase customer purchases.  Furthermore, to maintain a neat, clean, and visually appealing demo area and to perform other tasks as required in an efficient and safe manner, within Company policy.

Essential Job Functions:

The essential job functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to perform basic writing skills.
  • Ability to stand/walk for the entire duration of a scheduled shift.
  • Ability to lift 30-60 lbs.
  • Ability to work in climate controlled conditions.
  • Ability to push/pull demonstration table and supplies.
  • Ability to routinely bend, lift, stretch, and reach.
  • Provides customers with superior service.
  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress code policies.
  • Meet all work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.

Job Responsibilities:

The job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain a clean, neat, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist store and department managers in promoting product.
  • Assist customers.
  • Adhere to all company policies.
  • Set up the demo table following the direction of a store manager.
  • Follow proper sampling service sizes.
  • Maintain department sanitation and QA standards by cleaning and sanitizing all work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.  Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
  • Ensure accurate signage of demonstrating table including product name, nutritional information, and have a sign stating that only individuals 18 or older are allowed to sample without parent/guardian.
  • Assist in other departments when instructed.
  • Responsible for placing reclamation in its proper location.
  • Ensure compliance with all state laws regarding food handling and labeling.
  • Responsible for setting up and putting away all necessary items for the demonstration such as table cloth, sampling cups, plates, toothpicks, napkins, forks, knives, spoons, coupons, signage, microwave, hot plate, frying pan, toaster oven, product, and the demo table.
  • Check codes and dates daily to ensure freshness.
  • Maintain and properly use all equipment.
  • Required to speak authoritatively about the product being sampled.
  • Perform all other duties as required by the needs of the business.
  • Work overtime as needed y the demands of the business.
  • Incorporate the ShopRite Services Priorities in all decisions.
