Job description

Kelly® Science & Clinical is seeking a Sample Management Specialist for a 6-month contract opportunity with one of our clients, a leading immune medicine biotechnology company in Seattle. Pay rate: $25/hour.

*Shift diff of 15% for any hours worked after 6pm and on weekends
 

Schedule: Tuesday, Saturday, 10:30 am - 7 pm

Workplace: Onsite in Seattle.

Overview

The Sample Management Specialist II helps to support sample management and chain of custody for our client’s services, which include research, clinical projects, and diagnostic testing.

Responsibilities

  • Handling, storage, and life cycle management of samples entering the Biological Sample Management department.
  • Enter, upload, and ensure accuracy and completeness of information pertaining to samples and related projects through multiple systems.
  • Ensure there is a record of every system transaction relating to each managed sample in order to evidence the sample Chain of Custody (COC)
  • Ensure appropriate inventory management (freezer management) of each physical sample through the entire sample management lifecycle.
  • Perform sample disposition management (disposal, return, re-purpose, off-siting, reracks).
  • Perform check-in and check-out of biological samples to/from BSM.
  • Follow documented processes, safety protocols, and laboratory regulations, including Good Clinical Practices (GCP), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Manager, or other senior BSM staff.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and usual office software applications such as email and Teams.
  • Ability to follow Good Clinical and Laboratory Practices

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of experience working in a clinical laboratory performing CLIA high complexity testing or working with clinical samples in a regulated laboratory.
  • The degree includes 18 semester hours of biology courses relevant to medical sciences; 16 semester hours of chemistry (at least six of these in inorganic chemistry); 3 semester hours of mathematics; and 3 semester hours of physics.
