Full-time

Job description

Superintendent  (Assistant, I, II, Senior)

Samet Corporation   |   Greensboro, NC · Raleigh, NC · Charlotte, NC · Wilmington, NC · Charleston, SC · Savannah, GA

This is an evergreen talent-pipeline posting open across all six Samet offices — not a specific, currently open position.

Great careers rarely start with perfect timing. That’s why we like to meet strong Superintendents before a seat opens up. Applying here puts you on our radar across all six Samet offices—so when the right opportunity fits, whether that’s now or a few months down the road, we already know you and you already know us. No perfect timing required; we’d just love to start the conversation.

Superintendents are the field leaders who turn plans into buildings. At Samet, you’ll own day-to-day site operations — directing trades, managing the schedule, enforcing safety, and holding the quality line — so projects finish safely, on time, on budget, and to the standard our clients expect. You are the person who sets the tone on the job site.

This is where leadership shows up in hard hats and look-ahead schedules. You’ll coordinate subcontractors, mentor the field team, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with project management to deliver The Samet Way. Whether you’re stepping up from a Field Engineer role or running large, complex work, this is where you build your reputation—and the careers of the people around you.

Levels & Experience

We hire across the full field-supervision ladder and will match you to the right level based on experience and scope:

  • Assistant Superintendent — Supports superintendents in coordinating trades, scheduling, daily reports, quality inspections, and site logistics. Ideal for candidates with field experience and a complete understanding of Field Engineer responsibilities. OSHA 30 required.
  • Superintendent I — Manages projects start to finish with direct field oversight. Typically 3–5 years of superintendent experience; OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 required.
  • Superintendent II — Owns the CPM schedule and leads coordination, pre-install, and schedule meetings on assigned projects. Typically 5–7 years of construction experience.
  • Senior Superintendent — The primary field leader on larger or more complex projects, coordinating multiple trades and developing the field team. Typically 7–10 years of construction experience, including 3–5 in a supervisory role.

What You’ll Do

  • Direct and supervise all construction activities on assigned projects, maintaining safe, clean, and productive job sites.
  • Develop, own, and update the CPM schedule and four-week look-ahead schedules, sequencing work to optimize flow.
  • Lead weekly coordination, pre-install, and schedule meetings that keep trades aligned and the project moving.
  • Manage subcontractor performance against scheduled deadlines, confirming manpower, equipment, and materials are sufficient.
  • Enforce Samet’s safety policies and OSHA requirements; conduct and document daily and weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and inspections.
  • Lead quality initiatives — setting expectations for inspections and observations and ensuring all required quality forms and platforms are used.
  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and contracts; coordinate RFIs and resolve field issues.
  • Oversee and manage punch lists to closeout, and coordinate inspections and approvals with AHJs and third-party inspectors.
  • Maintain project curb appeal, site cleanliness, logistics, and security.
  • Partner with the Project Manager to develop and manage subcontractor scopes of work and contribute to the PMP.
  • Monitor and document weather, progress, and site conditions, and support permitting and inspection processes.
  • Coach and develop Samet field personnel, setting clear performance expectations and supporting career growth.
  • Build strong relationships with owners, designers, subcontractors, and trade partners, upholding Samet’s professional image.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • Construction superintendent experience appropriate to the level (see Levels & Experience above).
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (OSHA 30 required for all field associates).
  • Proficiency in construction management software — Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office; scheduling experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated mastery of construction methods, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and meeting-facilitation skills.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, or multi-family markets (a plus).
  • Understanding of Lean Construction and LEED practices (a plus).
  • A relentless focus on safety, quality, and schedule, and a passion for developing people.

Additional Requirements

Physical Demands: A field-intensive role with regular time on active construction sites and periodic office work. Frequently required to stand, walk (including on rough or uneven surfaces), climb stairs and ladders, balance, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, drive, and wear appropriate PPE; occasionally required to sit and handle hand and/or power tools, and infrequently to crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment: An active construction site in various stages of completion, with noise and light levels ranging from low to high. Unpleasant or potentially harmful fumes may occasionally be present (proper PPE provided). Temperature varies by location and season. Frequent travel is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Computer Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint and in industry-standard construction software such as Procore and Bluebeam. Able to collaborate via Zoom or Teams and type professional correspondence.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret a variety of technical instructions, plans, and specifications and resolve construction-related issues using established practices and procedures.

Certificates and Licenses: OSHA 30 certification required (OSHA 10 accepted at the Superintendent I level). A valid driver’s license is required.
