Job description

Job Overview:

We are seeking reliable and experienced Salt Truck Operators with a CDL to join the Tender Lawn Care team. The Salt Truck Operators will be responsible for safely and efficiently clearing snow and ice from commercial and residential properties, parking lots, sidewalks, and other areas during winter weather conditions. This role is essential for ensuring the safety and accessibility of our clients' properties.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate salt truck equipment to remove snow and ice from designated areas.
  • Apply salt, sand, or other de-icing materials to walkways, parking lots, and other surfaces as needed.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
  • Maintain communication with supervisors to receive route assignments and updates.
  • Work overnight, early mornings, and during weekends/holidays as needed, based on weather conditions.
  • Ensure all snow and ice removal meets safety and service quality standards.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including route sheets and time logs.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).


    Qualifications:

    • Physical Fitness: Must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks, including lifting heavy snow and operating snow removal equipment. Regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to frequently lift 50 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday.
    • Reliability: Ability to report to work on time and as scheduled, often with short notice during snowstorms and overnight shifts.
    • Experience: Previous experience operating snow removal equipment is required.
    • Work Ethic: Strong independent work ethic with a focus on quality and safety.
    • Snow Gear: Have and wear proper cold weather attire.
    • License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
    • CDL: Class B with valid DOT Medical or the ability to get one.


    Working Conditions:

    • Outdoor Work: Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including freezing temperatures, snow, and ice.
    • Hours: Midnight to 8am. Hours will vary based on snowfall and may require early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
