Job description

About Sequel
Sequel, headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire, is a company developing the next generation of transformative drug-delivery advancements starting with diabetes. Sequel’s approach is to look at diabetes management holistically to advance systems that make living with diabetes simpler and easier for all. Sequel’s flagship product, the twiist Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) System, launched in July 2025 for people with type 1 diabetes providing them with personalized diabetes management.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Salesforce System Engineer to serve as the technical lead and solution architect for our CRM platforms. This individual will own the system design, configuration standards, and technical implementation of Salesforce Health Cloud, Sales Cloud, and related solutions. As a key technical partner to the Salesforce Product Manager, you will translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams (Commercial, Clinical Ops, Customer Support, Data/Integration, and IT Security), ensure platform performance, guide platform enhancements, and lead the technical delivery of a HIPAA-compliant CRM that supports our rapid growth.

This role acts as the technical authority for Salesforce platform architecture and engineering standards, making final recommendations on architectural approaches, integration patterns, and platform scalability decisions.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

Platform Architecture & Design

  • Design solutions for complex, ambiguous requirements that span multiple objects, business processes, or systems, working from business intent rather than a written specification.

  • Design data models and sharing architecture for complex requirements, including the record-access model that enforces HIPAA minimum-necessary access, and assess the impact of model changes on reporting, integrations, and existing automation.

  • Produce technical designs for significant Salesforce changes, including data model impact, sharing implications, and downstream effects on integrated systems.

  • Evaluate declarative-versus-code trade-offs and recommend the approach that best balances maintainability, performance, and platform limits.

  • Anticipate scale and governor-limit constraints early in design rather than discovering them in testing.

  • Evaluate, design, and implement Agentforce and AI-enabled Salesforce capabilities to improve customer engagement, operational efficiency, and service delivery.

Configuration & Technical Implementation

  • Build the most technically complex components on the platform, including advanced Flows, Apex, asynchronous processing, and Lightning Web Components.

  • Refactor and simplify existing configuration and code where it has become fragile, duplicated, or difficult to maintain.

  • Review Apex and Lightning Web Component work from internal engineers and external partners against team standards, and explain the reasoning behind review feedback

Integration & Data Engineering Support

  • Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and external systems including Veeva, Snowflake, and AWS services, using MuleSoft as the primary integration platform.

  • Design integration error handling, retry and replay behavior, and reconciliation, so failures are detected and recoverable rather than silent.

  • Investigate and resolve cross-system data discrepancies, working with data and integration engineers to trace root cause.

Release Management & Change Control

  • Work with the Salesforce Product Manager to size and sequence upcoming work, surfacing technical constraints, dependencies, and effort before commitments are made.

  • Deliver enhancements through the established change control process, including sandbox use, deployment automation, release documentation, and identifying cross-environment dependencies ahead of a release.

DevOps & Validated Change Control

  • Work within a source-driven DevOps process in GitLab — version control and branching, merge requests, and automated deployment through CI/CD pipelines — and ensure each release produces the documented evidence required by our GxP change control process, including approvals, test execution records, and traceability from requirement to deployed change.

  • Improve pipeline and release tooling over time, including automated test execution, static analysis, and reducing manual steps in the deployment path.

  • Assess the impact of Salesforce seasonal releases on existing configuration and code, and complete the remediation required.

Compliance, Security & Governance

  • Ensure the Salesforce environment adheres to HIPAA, FDA, and internal security and data retention requirements.

  • Partner with IT Security and Compliance to implement appropriate encryption, access controls, and audit logging.

  • Lead security reviews related to Salesforce architecture, integrations, data access models, and external vendor solutions.

Documentation & Support

  • Write and maintain technical documentation for data models, integrations, and complex configuration so others can support and extend the work.

  • Own platform health, scalability, technical debt management, and continuous improvement initiatives."

  • Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for Salesforce issues that cannot be resolved by administrators or support.

  • Provide technical guidance to administrators and less experienced engineers and help onboard new team members to the platform.

Minimum Requirements (Education and Experience):
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (4-year) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience: 6+ years of experience as a Senior Salesforce System Engineer or Technical Consultant, including 3+ years working directly with Salesforce Health Cloud and/or Sales Cloud in regulated environments. Three or more years of hands-on experience with MuleSoft or a comparable iPaaS platform

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Active Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform App Builder, Advanced Administrator, Data Architect, or Integration Architect) are strongly preferred.

  • Deep understanding of Salesforce declarative tools (Flows, Permissions, Object Model, Profiles, Sharing Settings).

  • Experience integrating Salesforce with external platforms using REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, or file-based data loads.

  • Knowledge of Apex, SOQL, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and deployment tools (Change Sets, VS Code, DevOps Center, or CI/CD pipelines).

  • Familiarity with Salesforce Connect, External Objects, data sync strategies, and error handling.

  • Experience in designing and optimizing data models for both B2B and B2C use cases.

  • Strong working knowledge of HIPAA and data privacy standards.

  • Experience supporting technology in med-tech, healthcare, or other FDA-regulated domains preferred.

  • Strong systems thinking, documentation skills, and the ability to break down complex requirements.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with business users, architects, and technical partners.

  • Comfortable in fast-paced environments where flexibility and initiative are key.

  • Proven track record managing cross-functional projects and facilitating workshops or requirement sessions.

  • Comfortable working in Agile environments and using tools like Jira or Aha! for backlog and roadmap management.
