Ready to level-up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You're in the right place! Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce.

Software Engineer SMTS

The Ajna team builds and operates Salesforce's internal Kafka-as-a-Service platform - the distributed messaging backbone that powers real-time data pipelines, alerting, analytics, and event streaming across every major Salesforce product and cloud environment.

The platform serves a broad ecosystem of internal engineering teams across commercial, GovCloud, and sovereign cloud environments globally. This team pursues principled, high-impact architectural evolution with direct consequences at production scale.

The team operates with distributed coverage across Pacific and India Standard Time zones, maintains continuous on-call coverage, and is actively invested in intelligent automation - including AI-powered tooling built in-house to support triage and auto-remediation at scale.

What We Are Looking For
* Strong distributed systems fundamentals, including deep understanding of Kafka internals (leader election, ISR management, consumer groups, log compaction, partition rebalancing) and the ability to reason about consistency and availability trade-offs in multi-tenant environments
* Kubernetes engineering proficiency, including StatefulSets, Autoscaling, PersistentVolumeClaims, and Helm; demonstrated experience debugging production Kubernetes workloads
* Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform for cloud resources (IAM, object storage, messaging, block storage)
* Java engineering depth; the team's core services are Java-based and require clean, performant, operationally sound implementation
* Operational ownership mindset: participation in on-call rotation, production incident investigation, and systematic root cause analysis
* Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce architectural designs that influence decisions across team and organizational boundaries

Your Impact:
  • Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows, and validation platforms on our public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or Alibaba

  • Using and contributing to open source technology (Spinnaker, Zookeeper, etc.)
  • Developing Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform
  • Writing microservices on containerization frameworks such as Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos
  • Resolving complex technical issues and drive innovations that improve system availability, resilience, and performance
  • Eat, sleep, and breathe services. You have experience balancing live-site management, feature delivery, and retirement of technical debt
  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation to address complex problems in real-time and keep services operational and highly available

Required Skills:

    • A related technical degree required
    • 2- 5+ years backend software development experience
    • Deep knowledge of programming in Java, Golang, Python, or Ruby
    • Experience using and contributing to open source technology: Kafka, Spinnaker, Zookeeper
    • Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a critical service
    • Experience with Agile development methodology and Test Driven Development
