What is a Salesforce Administrator?

A Salesforce Administrator is a professional responsible for managing and configuring a Salesforce platform within an organization. They handle tasks such as user management, data maintenance, creating reports and dashboards, and customizing the system to meet business needs. Salesforce Administrators serve as the primary point of contact for users and ensure the platform is used efficiently and effectively. They also stay updated on new Salesforce features and implement best practices to support business operations.

What does a Salesforce Administrator do?

A Salesforce administrator’s duties are to coordinate and oversee various aspects of a company’s workflow, business operations, and productivity using Salesforce software. They work with end users, helping them resolve technical issues and developing new ways to manage and store data in a cloud environment. If a Salesforce administrator works more closely with end users, their responsibilities often involve utilizing the Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) tools to facilitate business relationships. Qualifications to become a Salesforce administrator include a bachelor’s degree and professional certification in the Salesforce platform or specific resources, such as the CRM tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Salesforce Administrator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Salesforce Administrator, you need a solid understanding of CRM principles, data management, and Salesforce platform functionality, usually supported by a bachelor's degree and Salesforce Administrator certification. Familiarity with tools like Salesforce Lightning, workflows, process builder, and third-party integration apps is typically expected. Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills help you manage user needs and translate business requirements into effective system solutions. These competencies ensure efficient platform management, support business operations, and drive user adoption of Salesforce solutions.

What are some common challenges Salesforce Administrators face when managing user requests and system updates?

Salesforce Administrators often juggle multiple user requests while ensuring the platform remains efficient and secure. A common challenge is prioritizing urgent support tickets alongside larger projects, such as system updates or new feature rollouts. Admins must also balance customization requests with best practices to avoid unnecessary complexity. Effective communication with stakeholders and ongoing user training are key to overcoming these challenges and maintaining a smooth-running Salesforce environment.

Job Description

About the Role

Our Revenue System Administrator will join a global team responsible for the day-to-day configuration, maintenance, and support of Nearmap's core revenue tech stack - including Salesforce, Gong, Conga CPQ, NetSuite. Based out of our growing Utah hub, you'll share ownership of key workstreams with fellow administrators across regions, handling configuration, troubleshooting, and smaller-to-mid-sized build items independently, while partnering with Solution Architects and the Poland-based engineering team on larger initiatives. You'll coordinate handoffs with fellow admins so nothing falls through the cracks between shifts or regions. This is a great fit for someone with solid, hands-on Salesforce administration experience who wants to work across a real revenue stack building flows, managing users, configuring CPQ, and owning integrations. You'll be part of a supportive, distributed team rather than flying solo.

**Role Location: While we are open to remote candidates within the continental United States, we have a strong preference for candidates based within commuting distance to our Lehi, UT office.
Key Responsibilities

Salesforce & Revenue Systems Administration

  • Handle day-to-day Salesforce and Revenue Systems administration alongside the global admin team: user setup, roles, profiles, permission sets, security settings, and license management.
  • Build and maintain declarative automation (Flows, validation rules, approval processes) in coordination with fellow admins, following shared conventions to support Sales, Finance, and Product workflows.
  • Configure and maintain assigned areas of Conga CPQ - product bundles, pricing rules, quote templates, and approval workflows - as part of a workstream split with other CPQ admins.
  • Take part in regular, team-wide system audits to identify unused fields, redundant automation, and data quality issues, and help remediate collaboratively.

Systems Integration & Automation

  • Work alongside admins in other regions to maintain and troubleshoot integrations between Salesforce, NetSuite, and Workato, ensuring data flows cleanly across the revenue stack.
  • Monitor scheduled jobs, integration errors, and sync failures during your coverage window, resolving issues where possible and handing off clearly to the next region or escalating to engineering when needed.

Support & Enablement

  • Act as one of several points of contact for end-user support tickets related to Salesforce, and connected systems, working a shared queue with the rest of the admin team.
  • Train and support Sales, Finance, and Product users on system functionality, new features, and best practices, in coordination with teammates covering other regions.
  • Partner with Business Analysts to translate requirements into working configuration, and with the Poland engineering team on more complex build items.
  • Support UAT cycles by executing test scripts, logging defects, and validating fixes prior to release, alongside fellow admins.

Documentation & Governance

  • Maintain up-to-date system documentation: data flow diagrams, field/automation inventories, and integration dependency maps, so knowledge stays accessible across the global team.
  • Contribute to project and ticket tooling hygiene (Jira, Confluence, or equivalent) so system status and known issues are always current for whoever picks up next.
  • Follow shared change management practices for configuration changes and releases, ensuring changes are tested, documented, and communicated across the team.
  • Contribute to a culture of clean, well-governed systems - reducing technical debt and rework over time - as part of a collective standard the whole admin team upholds.
Qualifications

Experience

  • Required: Salesforce Administrator (ADM 201) certification, OR 3+ years of hands-on Salesforce administration experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a SaaS or B2B environment preferred, with some exposure to revenue systems (CRM, CPQ, ERP).
  • Working familiarity with a CPQ platform (Conga CPQ or comparable) - comfortable configuring bundles, pricing rules, or templates with some guidance.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system is a plus.
  • Exposure to integration/automation platforms such as Workato, MuleSoft, or similar is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred but not required.
  • Gearset or similar DevOps/release management tool experience is a plus.

Skills

  • Solid command of declarative Salesforce tools: Flow, validation rules, approval processes, permission sets, and reporting/dashboards.
  • Working understanding of the sales process and how CPQ, CRM, ERP, and Marketing automation systems connect.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting routine integration and data issues independently, escalating more complex problems as needed.
  • Clear, confident communicator able to support non-technical business users and coordinate with technical partners (architects, engineers).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum ways of working and standard PM tooling (Jira, Confluence, or similar) is a plus.
  • Strong written communication skills, important for handoffs and coordination with a distributed admin team across time zones.
