Who Will You Be Working With?
TransTech, part of the Wabtec global group of companies focusing on freight, locomotive, and the passenger rail industry is a leading manufacturer of moving electrification systems for passenger and industrial markets. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead projects for our transit business. This is a challenging and rewarding role within TransTech, with the ability to see and work with many of the leading transit authorities and car builders within the passenger rail transit industry. The ideal candidate for this position will be innovative, organized and hands-on, with good business and financial acumen, a natural curiosity, and desire to excel.
As a member of the Project Management team, you will be responsible for leading complex technical and commercial projects in the passenger rail industry. You will manage cross-functional teams, develop comprehensive project master plans, and drive customer satisfaction through strategic project execution. You will be expected to take full ownership of all aspects of your projects-technical, commercial, and operational. Key functions for this position are:
  • Internally, act as the advocate for the customer; externally, serve as TransTech's representative with car builders and transit authorities.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales, marketing, supply chain, and customer support to ensure products and services are accomplished efficiently, on time, and with excellence.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You will be responsible for every aspect of project success-from planning and execution to customer satisfaction and financial performance. While you will not have direct reports, you must lead cross-functional teams through influence, stakeholder alignment, and clear communication. You'll be expected to drive accountability, resolve challenges, and inspire collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, sales, and field support.
  • Manage multiple projects for new products and services from inception through delivery and customer acceptance
  • Manage contract to ensure project scope meets the customer specification and serve as company liaison to customer
  • Drive project success and customer satisfaction
  • Develop project schedule and manage to ensure project meets customer milestones and project deliveries on time.
  • Optimize project margins and profitability by managing project costs
  • Manage project Risk and Opportunity and Contract Improvement Plan
  • Manage and refine the tollgate-based new product introduction process
  • Lead project reviews both internally and with customers; escalate issues to senior management when needed.
  • Facilitate cross-functional team collaboration
  • Work with production team to drive resolution for manufacturing issues.
  • Ensure high-quality project delivery

  • Minimum 5 years of Project Management or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Passenger rail industry experience
  • Optional: Multi-national corporation experience, PMP Certification

  • Manage project core teams to meet all technical deliverables; interface with Design Engineering to develop/modify products to meet customer requirements.
  • Interface with customers to establish, negotiate, and manage product/system technical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for schedules, risks, issues, changes, and financials; communicate status clearly and proactively.

What About the Physical Demands of the Job?
  • Primarily office-based work, on-site presence during normal working day/hours is required.
  • Up to 25% travel to various sites, primarily in North America
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing environments to interact with production team
  • Requires talking, hearing, sitting, and light physical activity
  • You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
