The Sales Manager in Southern Ontario plays a key role in driving regional growth and managing customer relationships across the Process Industry sector. This position requires approximately 50% travel to customer sites and industry partners throughout the region.

About the opportunity:

RHI Magnesita is seeking a dynamic Account Sales Manager to join our Process Industries division within Southern Ontario. In this role, you will oversee marketing and sales activities, driving results that align with company goals and strategic vision. You'll manage direct and indirect sales through the local sales and service team, lead human resource efforts, and provide essential product and system knowledge to support your team.

What You'll Do:
  • Prioritize and lead safety in every activity you are involved.
  • Maximize sales and market share of refractory products and services.
  • Develop and maintain multi-level relationships across customer organizations.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue through material, service offerings, and margin optimization.
  • Build strong supplier-end-user relationships to ensure long-term partnerships.
  • Monitor and respond to political, economic, competitive, and production trends affecting the refractory industry.
  • Achieve customer-specific targets, including sales volume, turnover, inventory days-on-hand (DOH), and margin.
  • Maintain CRM records, including customer contacts, call reports, opportunities, market share, and competitor activity.
  • Submit reports detailing customer production, competitor movements, new projects, and market insights as needed.
  • Provide strategic updates on product performance, application innovations, and service enhancements.
  • Deliver accurate rolling forecasts for material and service needs to optimize inventory and supply chain efficiency.
  • Oversee demand cycles, including supplier selection, negotiations, purchasing, logistics, outage schedules, and performance tracking.
  • Negotiate favorable payment terms and ensure timely collections.
  • Coordinate daily schedules of sales activities and service personnel.
  • Collaborate with Technical Marketing to propose and execute trials of new materials and optimize application concepts.
  • Support customer refractory installation and application troubleshooting.
  • Travel within the designated territory and represent RHI Magnesita at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.
About You:

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma required
  • Engineering Degree is a plus and/or experience in related industrial setting

Knowledge, Skills, and General Abilities

  • Minimum 2 years of industrial experience, preferably involving steel production or refractories.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and customer needs.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn inventory control processes and standards.
  • Tracking, analyzing and explaining data.
  • Familiarity with heavy industrial environments and related safety standards.
  • Must be comfortable in dealing with customers from all levels
  • Hands on, forward thinking, and improvement/results driven
  • Open mind to new refractory opportunities and problem solving
  • Works effectively and collaboratively, including clear written and verbal communications
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products, specifically MS Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency or ability to learn the use of an ERP, MRP, or similar system for data input, output, report creation and data analysis is a plus
  • SAP knowledge is a plus
  • Willingness / eager to learn
  • Supporting team members and other customers as required
  • Driver license and personal vehicle required
