Summerset Marine Construction has been providing a full range of lakefront services to its customers in Southeastern Wisconsin since 1990. As the largest pier and lift dealer in Wisconsin, Summerset has grown over the years along with its customers' needs, able to provide the expertise and products necessary for the perfect waterfront solution. Servicing hundreds of clients from Madison to Milwaukee, Summerset Marine provides the highest level of expertise to design, install and support any pier and boat lift system, always on call for any service needs.
About the role:
The Sales Manager will play a key role in driving the growth of Summerset Marine Construction by securing new clients, maintaining existing relationships, coaching and developing the sales team, designing and implementing standard operating procedures, and overseeing the sales process from initial contact through to project completion. It also includes collaborating closely with Production, Construction, Service, and other departments to deliver the highest level of service. The position requires market knowledge, industry trend awareness, and effective communication with customers and production teams to ensure the highest level of service. This role is dedicated to helping internal and external customers.
What you'll do:
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries, providing accurate and timely information to foster strong relationships and generate new business opportunities.
  • Develop detailed proposals for potential clients, including the creation of drawings and designs as required to meet customer specifications and project needs.
  • Proactively follow up with potential clients on open quotes, ensuring timely responses and securing commitments to move forward with projects.
  • Work closely with the production team to communicate specific project needs, such as fabrication, steel, and aluminum requirements, and assist with production and installation scheduling.
  • Perform final walkthroughs with customers to ensure satisfaction with completed projects, identifying and resolving any issues before final acceptance.
  • Oversee the collection of final payments upon project completion, ensuring timely processing and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and address any issues or obstacles that arise during the sales or project process, working to find practical solutions and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Review weekly revenue performance, identifying trends and taking corrective actions as needed to meet or exceed sales and revenue targets.
  • Responsible for managing sales opportunities, regardless of size or value, and appropriately delegating opportunities to another Sales Representative when necessary.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the sales team, conducting regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and providing ongoing training.
  • Design and implement standard operating procedures and monitoring their compliance.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain high-performing sales talent as the company grows.
  • Support hiring for sales positions by interviewing candidates and recommending hires, while collaborating with Human Resources.
  • Partner closely with production, project management, and finance to ensure seamless handoffs and realistic commitments.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the company's growth and success, contributing to team and organizational goals.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in supervising and managing a team, including performance management, delegation, and coaching.
  • 5 years of experience directly overseeing sales of a two (2) million dollar or larger company.
