Join Weeklys' Multi-Media Advertising Sales Team


Weeklys Media Group, publisher of the East Bay Express and East Bay magazine, is an independent, innovative Bay Area-based company that publishes 17 community and alternative weeklies in eight greater Bay Area counties, along with specialty magazines, digital media services and events. 


We’re seeking a dynamic, self motivated and energetic Sales Manager to represent a line of digital marketing products and local publications in the East Bay and throughout the Bay Area that influence where people shop, find entertainment and spend their leisure time. You'll lead a team of Account Executives that help local and regional businesses gain new customers while making a difference in local communities by supporting local news and journalism. You'll also have an opportunity to work with key clients and organizations while developing new opportunities.


As Sales Manager you will be responsible for hiring, developing, coaching and training a sales team while supporting and achieving personal, team and company sales goals.


Responsibilities and Duties Include

  • Conduct weekly sales meetings and monthly training meetings with sales staff
  • Teach sales team to develop and present effective advertising programs to decision makers and convince them how the proposals are consistent with the clients’ objectives
  • Achieve team revenue goals and other personal goals
  • Other duties and tasks as required by the senior management


Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years sales and two years advertising management experience with demonstrated success developing, growing and managing team revenues and customer relationships
  • Media sales or related experience required
  • Transactional and consultative selling, coaching and training skills are a major plus 
  • Digital sales and management experience are highly desired 
  • Experience leading in person and hybrid sales employees, managing and selling events and promotions is helpful
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Familiarity with web metrics and digital marketing
  • High degree of proficiency using standard business productivity tools (email, teleconferencing, spreadsheets, presentation software)
  • Territory management experience
  • Self-motivated, energetic, upbeat, tenacious team player with excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Outstanding relationship building skills with a high degree of responsiveness and integrity
