Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Provide direction and take responsibility for current and future sales developments that will enable the company to meet its short and long-term goals. Coordinate and manage daily sales activities in accordance with company profit plans and objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Achieve sales and gross profit dollar goals.
  • Participate in the ongoing development of new systems that will further enhance the selling or maintenance of new and existing customers.
  • Select, train, coach and manage direct reports.
  • Monitor training for all newly hired marketing associates.
  • Establish and manage the expense budget for the sales department.
  • Participate, along with senior management, in formulating and administering company policies, budgets and developing long-range goals and objectives.
  • Review and analyze all sales-related activities in order to establish goals, quotas and acceptable benchmarks in support of company objectives.
  • Motivate all sales personnel to reach all goals established by the company.
  • Analyze and control expenditures in order to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Conduct Coaching and Maximizing Performance meetings with Regional Sales Managers a minimum of two times a year (mid-year and year-end).
  • Comply with company guidelines in employment actions and provide due process for all employees.
  • Understand and comply with SYSCO Corporate’s code of business conduct and all other company policies.
  • Participate in sales training sessions to provide an overview of the department’s functions.
  • Develop profit plan objectives, track and report actual results against the plan.
  • Recruit, interview, and train District Sales Managers to become successful managers.
  • Develop clear expectations using the Performance Worksheet to communicate and track progress or need for improvement with direct reports.
  • Document goals and evaluations for direct reports.
  • Monitor all sales territories in the assigned region with each DSM (district sales manager).
  • Generate double-digit growth in both sales and GPS on a regular basis.
  • Attend training programs, sales management training courses, and other educational programs to further enhance managerial and sales skills.
  • Interact effectively with all personnel in all departments.
  • Conduct Coaching and Maximizing Performance meetings with reporting DSM’s (district sales manager) a minimum of two times a year (mid-year and year-end).
  • Perform other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS Education
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is required.
Experience
  • 10 years of previous sales experience and a leadership role working within a sales environment is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills are required.
  • Intermediate word processing (Microsoft Word preferred) and intermediate spreadsheet application skills (Microsoft Excel preferred) are desired.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people and situations in a fast-paced environment is required.
Work Environment
  • General working conditions – exposed to adverse conditions 5% or less of the time.
