Job Title: Service Manager - weekly salary Plus monthly commission!

Service Manager:


The Service Manager is responsible for achieving department volume, growth, and profit goals while controlling expenses and maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction for internal and external customers, and vendors whom we conduct business with. The Service Manager is tasked with maintaining good employee relations and maximizing technician productivity. The Service Manager also ensures the proper operation, maintenance, and storage of all service department facilities, tools and equipment, and both customer and company owned vehicles.

Service Manager Essential Duties

  • Manage, train, motivate and provide support to Service Department staff
  • Manage the work of service advisors each day including review of WIP reports, monitoring incoming phone calls, e-commerce requests, walk in traffic, identifying potential opportunities in communication, documentation, and follow up before, during, and upon completion of transactions to ensure a consistent high level of customer service.
  • Manage WIP work flow- scheduling, prioritizing, dispatching work to technicians that match their skill level to ensure quality and timely repairs, ensuring accurate time clock information is being entered by technicians, and that OEM service schedules are being followed, reviewing to ensure timely completion and quality repairs.
  • Manage employee schedules, workload, performance and provide assistance with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, reviewing, counseling, and terminating employees
  • Monitor technician productivity and efficiency levels, address all comebacks with individual technicians.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing, submission, and payment (completion) of warranty and/or ESC claims including proper identification, collection, storage, and return of any parts associated with processing and payment of warranty and/or ESC claims.
  • Monitor accuracy of labor sold verses published flat rate guides
  • Ensure required technician training and education is performed and up to date
  • Monitor manufacturer communications to identify TSB or Recall opportunities
  • Ensure implementation and execution of company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate transaction/ cash & currency handling, processing, and reporting
  • Provide report tracking department daily progress in key areas to General Manager and Ownership daily.
  • Work directly with General Manager and Ownership on both short and long term advertising strategies, campaigns, marketing, and promotions
  • Communicate daily with sales manager regarding any major units requiring repair including potential trade in units and advise sales manager of any concerns.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety of customer and work areas and ensure facility is properly secured at the end of work day.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by General Manager or Ownership


Physical Demands:

  • Job will require standing, bending, stooping, crouching, sitting, reaching to perform daily tasks.
  • Ability to safely maneuver 900 + pound vehicles, at times using other mechanical equipment (forklift)
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, either assisted or unassisted, sometimes in uncomfortable positions.
  • Proficient use of hand and pneumatic tools, great manual dexterity.
  • Working conditions is usually loud. Frequently work near moving parts with potential exposure to battery acid, gasoline, oils and lubricants, chemical cleaning materials, and occasional exposure to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
