The Team You’ll Join  

Given the current team structure, the Senior Sales Engineer also contributes to foundational Sales Engineering responsibilities such as RFP coordination, demo asset development, and sales enablement materials. Success in this role requires strong technical acumen, a consultative mindset, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong understanding of industry trends and product capabilities. How You’ll Contribute   

The Senior Sales Engineer partners with Sales, Product, and the Sales Engineering Director to support the successful positioning of the company’s technology solutions to prospects and clients. This role plays a critical part in the pre-sales process by leading technical discovery, delivering product demonstrations, and helping translate client business requirements into effective technical solutions.

As a key member of the Sales Engineering team, the Senior Sales Engineer bridges the gap between client needs and the company’s product capabilities. The role is responsible for driving core technical activities throughout the sales cycle—including solution configuration, technical presentations, and responding to client due diligence—while supporting complex opportunities in collaboration with the Sales Engineering Director.

  • Client Engagement & Technical Sales Support
    • Lead tailored product demonstrations for prospects and clients, clearly articulating product capabilities, value propositions, and enterprise use cases.
    • Assist technical discovery sessions to gather and document client requirements and translate them into appropriate product solutions.
    • Analyze customer technical specifications and recommend product configurations, implementation approaches, and estimated effort, timelines, and resources.
    • Develop a strong understanding of client business models, operational needs, and growth strategies to effectively position product capabilities.
    • Collaborate with Sales teams throughout the sales cycle to address technical questions, overcome objections, and support client decision-making.
    • Assist in resolving complex client scenarios by partnering with internal teams and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Solution Development & Internal Collaboration
    • Create and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and supporting materials for prospects, clients, and internal sales teams.
    • Review sales proposals and technical documentation to ensure alignment with client requirements and solution capabilities.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for the product suite and provide consultative guidance to internal stakeholders and sales teams.
    • Maintain awareness of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings to support effective product positioning.
    • Provide feedback to Product teams on customer requirements, product gaps, and enhancement opportunities identified during client engagements.
  • Sales Engineering Operations
    • Coordinate and contribute to responses for Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
    • Develop and maintain reusable sales engineering assets, including demo environments, demo snippets, and technical enablement materials.
    • Support cross-functional initiatives that impact sales messaging, product positioning, and go-to-market efforts.
    • Contribute to process improvements and documentation that enhance Sales Engineering team efficiency and scalability.
  • Team Support & Knowledge Sharing
    • Serve as a technical resource for Sales team members and internal stakeholders throughout the sales process.
    • Share knowledge and best practices across the Sales Engineering team to support team development and consistency in client engagements.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members as the team grows.
    • Be a key contributor to the competitive intelligence library and product opportunities list.
  • Adherence to and application of Envestnet legal, compliance, risk, business continuity and administrative policy within the role and department(s) including the timely completion of training & awareness, affirmations and testing as requested.  
  • As part of the responsibilities for this role, you will understand and readily support Envestnet's established corporate business practices, policies, internal controls and procedures designed to create value or minimize risk.

What You’ll Need to Bring  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Product Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial services or a related industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in a client-facing, technical sales, sales engineering, product, or solutions role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions with clients and translate business requirements into product solutions.
  • Experience supporting complex client engagements in a consultative sales environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, and listening skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven organizational, multitasking, and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple sales opportunities simultaneously.
  • Proactive and motivated learner with a strong interest in developing deeper product, technical, and industry expertise.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Sales, Product, and other internal teams to support successful client outcomes.

Our Investment in You 

This role offers a base salary range of $104,100 to $130,100. The range listed represents a good-faith estimate of base salary compensation for this position and does not include incentive compensation, equity or benefits. Individual pay will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws.  This role is eligible for an additional incentive component as part of the total rewards package.
