Position: Lead Operations Supervisor

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Plan, directs and coordinates all manufacturing functions and related maintenance service functions for production in the SureFire Plus Department. Provide direction and guidance to fellow supervisors to maintain efficiency, quality, and acceptable scrap levels in the department. Work within existing inventory and budget levels to produce product. Assists Manufacturing Manager in attaining departmental goals.

The responsibility of this position includes coordination of preventative and corrective maintenance, staffing, 5s activities, and the efficient operation of the SureFire Plus Department. The position will be responsible for the SureFire Plus operation. The additional challenges of this position relate to meeting diversified production schedules within established time, quality and cost standards and to seek new production productivity. Scrap reduction, in particular, represents an ongoing challenge requiring coordination among all department personnel.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for overall departmental Safety, Productivity and Quality levels.
  • Implements and maintains department's organization and visual management system(s) with a high degree of focus on 5s basics.
  • Participate in the utilization of problem solving tools and techniques to implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Track and trend department's Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and take action on negative trends. Lead continuous improvement activities in alignment with KPI trends.
  • Collectively work with Quality and Engineering on customer issues, root cause anaylsis and sustainable corrective action.
  • Conduct shift employee meetings on safety, quality, production goals on a daily basis and follow up with contiguous and on shift supervisors.
  • Supervise departmental safety programs, responsible for departmental safety performance and participate in plant safety meetings as required.
  • Supervise departmental preventive maintenance and tool conservations programs in conjunction with programs established by plant maintenance coordinator.
  • Responsible for departmental enforcement of company policy and shop rules.
  • Responsible for departmental inventories and departmental operating budgets.
  • Review and monitor the implementation of engineering changes and improvements to machinery and equipment to maximize departmental capacity, capability, and efficiency and cost effectiveness. This includes good feedback communication to manufacturing engineering's in charge of the projects.
  • Attends, as necessary, daily, weekly and monthly production meetings with the Production
  • Manager to set departmental focus and backorder priorities.
  • Proactively communicate the status of material shortages or delays or capacity limitations to the Production Manager. Initate actions to prevent future reoccurring issues.
  • Each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent a violation of the Federal-Mogul
  • Integrity Policy. All employees will abide by their location's EH&S policy endorsed by the local management, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established under its EHSMS, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard. An employee should report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself. Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.


Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business related degree required

Minimum Experience Requirements

  • Prefer five years' experience in high volume production operations
