Safety Manager (Process Safety Engineer) – Covington, GA 30014

Location: Covington, GA 30014

Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager / Process Safety Engineer to join our team in Covington, GA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing safety, OSHA compliance, process improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will be responsible for leading all site safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, driving a strong safety culture, and supporting Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to improve operational performance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all site safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.
  • Conduct safety training and development programs for all personnel.
  • Perform safety audits, inspections, investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Manage incident reporting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
  • Develop and maintain site safety documentation and records.
  • Promote and strengthen a culture of safety throughout the facility.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects.
  • Conduct business assessments, process evaluations, and workflow analyses.
  • Develop and implement standard work procedures and sustainment plans.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to improve safety and productivity.
  • Manage safety-related projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize statistical data and reporting tools to identify trends and support decision-making.
  • Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate emergency preparedness activities.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Business, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing safety experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting safety training, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Experience with process planning and project management.
  • Experience implementing and supporting Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred; Black Belt strongly preferred.
  • Experience utilizing continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with ERP systems; Infor experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Industrial Engineering concepts, including:
    • Time Studies
    • Workflow Analysis
    • Pareto Charts
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Process Mapping
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
